This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Virginia.
• Deliver an engaging learning experience in the classroom, online, and/or in the lab through various teaching techniques including lectures and demonstrations.
• Maintain student engagement in a classroom setting while adhering to an established curriculum/syllabus.
• Foster a positive educational environment for students to thrive in, while clearly defining and communicating objectives for all learning activities.
• Achieve course and school-wide performance goals for students.
• Oversee student behavior in both classroom and online settings.
• Monitor and assess student performance.
• Identify and refer students who are “at risk” of not succeeding to the Student Success Coordinator.
• Provide continuous student advisement and academic counseling by tutoring and mentoring students individually as needed.
• Evaluate tests and projects, maintain grade books, track attendance, and perform other necessary administrative tasks.
• Engage in ongoing conferences, seminars, and training sessions (including 2 educational in-services, 1 distance education in-service, and proof of at least 2 professional development activities annually).
• Contribute input and participate in academic committees aimed at enhancing programs and student experiences.
• A Master’s degree or higher from an accredited program recognized by the U.S. Secretary of Education or the Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA) is required.
• A minimum of 15 credit hours or equivalent in the relevant subject area is required.
• For the states of Georgia, Ohio, Texas, and Virginia, a Master’s degree in the discipline OR a Master’s degree (in any discipline) with 18 semester credit hours of graduate coursework pertinent to the discipline is required.
• Two years of practical experience in the course content area with a related degree, or three years of experience if the degree is in an unrelated field is required.
• A minimum of three years of work experience as an educator is preferred.
• Proficient communication skills in English, both verbally and in writing, are essential.
