Adjunct Faculty – Introduction to Psychology

πŸ“‹ Description

β€’ Under the guidance of the Dean of General Education, the adjunct instructor facilitates a learning experience in the classroom, online, and/or in the lab by employing various teaching methods such as lectures and demonstrations.

β€’ Engage students in a classroom setting while adhering to an established curriculum or syllabus.

β€’ Foster a positive educational environment for students to thrive in while establishing and clearly communicating objectives for all learning activities.

β€’ Oversee student behavior in both classroom and online settings.

β€’ Observe and assess student performance.

β€’ Identify and refer students who are "at risk" of academic failure to the Student Success Coordinator.

β€’ Provide continuous academic advisement and counseling by tutoring and mentoring students individually when necessary.

β€’ Evaluate tests and projects, maintain grade books, monitor attendance, and perform other administrative tasks as required.

β€’ Administer oral, written, or performance assessments to gauge progress and evaluate the effectiveness of training.

β€’ Engage in ongoing professional development through conferences, seminars, and training sessions (2 education in-services, 1 distance education in-service, and proof of at least 2 professional development activities annually).


⛳️ Requirements

β€’ A Master's degree or higher from a program accredited by the U.S. Secretary of Education or the Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA) is required.

β€’ A minimum of 15 credit hours or equivalent in the relevant subject area is required.

β€’ States such as Georgia, Ohio, Texas, and Virginia require a Master’s degree in the discipline OR a Master’s degree (in any discipline) with 18 semester credit hours of graduate coursework pertinent to the discipline.

β€’ Two years of practical experience in the course content area with a related degree, or three years of practical experience if the degree is unrelated, is required.

β€’ A minimum of three years of experience as an educator is preferred.

β€’ Proficient verbal and written communication skills in English are essential.
