Adjunct Faculty Instructor, U.S. National Defense Establishment and Civil-Military Organization

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Attend mandatory onboarding and course orientation prior to commencing teaching.

• Develop supplementary materials incorporating current events and/or pertinent past experiences for USNCC Dean approval; upload these materials onto the USNCC LMS.

• Instruct assigned undergraduate-level online asynchronous courses.

• Deliver teaching via the USNCC Blackboard Learning Management System (LMS).

• Facilitate stimulating online discussions that foster critical thinking and active participation from students.

• Assess assignments, exams, discussion posts, and projects using established grading criteria.

• Offer comprehensive written feedback that enhances student learning and academic achievement.

• Track student progress throughout the course and proactively identify those who may be at risk academically.

• Maintain regular communication with students and respond to inquiries within the specified response time.

• Hold weekly virtual office hours along with additional flexible hours as necessary.

• Prepare and submit a weekly progress report along with all grades and necessary documentation by set deadlines.

• Compile end-of-course reports summarizing student performance and providing recommendations for course enhancements.

• Engage in faculty meetings and collaborate with Course Leads and Academic Affairs as needed.

• Stay updated with current knowledge in the assigned discipline through professional development, research, scholarship, or involvement in professional organizations.

• Ensure all instructional materials adhere to USNCC academic policies.

⛳️ Requirements

• Authorization to work permanently in the United States without sponsorship.

• Relevant military experience or comparable experience in government and/or with military personnel.

• Experience teaching at the collegiate level in an online learning environment utilizing Learning Management Systems (Blackboard or similar LMS).

• Suitable academic qualifications and a record of scholarship/research aligned with the assigned teaching role.

• Proven expertise in U.S. national security studies, American government and politics, comparative politics, public policy, public administration, and American history.

• Previous experience teaching courses related to U.S. politics and government, politics and public policy, U.S. history, U.S. defense policy and/or strategy, civics, and civic engagement.

• A Master's degree (Doctorate preferred) in a relevant field.

• At least 18 graduate semester hours in the teaching discipline.

• Prior experience in college-level teaching.

• Bachelor's Degree with significant high-level professional experience directly related to the course's subject matter in a military or similar environment.
