Adjunct Faculty Instructor, NAV 105 – Introduction to Geopolitics

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Participate in mandatory onboarding and course orientation sessions before commencing teaching.

• Develop supplementary materials (limited to 10-15%) featuring current events and/or relevant past experiences for approval by the USNCC Dean and/or Associate Dean of the Academics Program; upload all materials to the USNCC LMS.

• Instruct assigned undergraduate-level online asynchronous courses following USNCC policies, syllabi, and instructional standards.

• Deliver instruction through the USNCC Blackboard Learning Management System (LMS) utilizing the government-provided course shell that includes instructional materials, core lectures, assignments, rubrics, and discussion topics.

• Facilitate dynamic online discussions that foster critical thinking and encourage active participation from students.

• Evaluate assignments, examinations, discussion posts, and projects using established grading rubrics.

• Provide comprehensive written feedback that enhances student learning and promotes academic success.

• Monitor course progress and proactively identify students who may be at risk academically.

• Maintain regular communication with students and respond to inquiries within established timeframes.

• Hold weekly virtual office hours and additional flexible office hours as necessary to support student success.

• Prepare a weekly progress report.

• Submit all grades and required documentation by the specified deadlines.

• Create end-of-course reports summarizing student performance and recommendations for course enhancements.

• Engage in faculty meetings and collaborate with Course Leads, Academic Affairs, and Student Services as needed.

• Stay current in the assigned discipline through professional development, scholarship, research, or involvement in professional organizations.

• Ensure that all instructional materials and supplementary content adhere to USNCC academic policies, copyright regulations, and Department of the Navy standards.

⛳️ Requirements

• Authorization to work permanently in the United States without sponsorship.

• A Master's degree (Doctorate preferred) in a relevant field.

• A minimum of 18 graduate semester hours in the teaching discipline.

• Relevant military experience or equivalent experience in government, and/or working with military personnel.

• Previous teaching experience at the collegiate level, particularly in online education.

• Familiarity with Learning Management Systems (Blackboard or similar LMS).

• Appropriate academic qualifications and a record of scholarship/research aligned with the assigned teaching role.

• Specialization in political science, comparative politics, international relations, and U.S. security studies.

• Previous experience teaching introductory courses in world politics, global security studies, American foreign policy, and U.S. national security.
