Adjunct Faculty, Human Nutrition

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California.

📋 Description

• Under the guidance of the Dean of General Education, the adjunct instructor facilitates a learning experience in various settings, including the classroom, online, and in the lab, employing diverse teaching methods such as lectures and demonstrations, while utilizing audiovisual and technological tools to enhance presentations and assess student achievements.

• Engage students in a classroom atmosphere while adhering to an established curriculum/syllabus.

• Foster a positive educational environment that promotes learning by setting and communicating clear objectives for all instructional activities.

• Achieve course and institutional student performance objectives.

• Manage student conduct in both classroom and online settings.

• Observe and assess student performance.

• Identify and refer students who may be "at risk" of academic failure to the Student Success Coordinator.

• Provide continuous student advisement and academic counseling through tutoring and mentoring on an individual basis as needed.

• Evaluate tests and projects, maintain grade books, track attendance, and fulfill other administrative responsibilities as required.

• Administer oral, written, or performance assessments to gauge progress and evaluate the effectiveness of training.

• Engage in ongoing conferences, seminars, and training sessions (including 2 educational in-services, 1 distance education in-service, and proof of participation in at least 2 professional development activities annually).

• Contribute to and participate in academic committees aimed at enhancing both programs and student experiences.


⛳️ Requirements

• A Master's degree or higher from an accredited program recognized by the U.S. Secretary of Education or the Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA) is mandatory.

• A minimum of 15 credit hours or equivalent in the assigned subject area is required.

• Individuals in Georgia, Ohio, Texas, and Virginia must possess a Master’s degree in the field OR a Master’s degree (in any discipline) with 18 semester credit hours of graduate coursework pertinent to the discipline.

• A minimum of two years of practical experience in the course content area with a related degree, or three years of practical experience if the degree is in an unrelated field is essential.

• A minimum of three years of experience as an educator is preferred.

• Strong ability to communicate effectively in both verbal and written English is required.
