This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Arizona, +2 more states.
• Support the sales team by designing and communicating the technical ERISA components of Cash Balance, Defined Benefit, and Defined Contribution plans.
• Create and present forecasts for new business proposals based on insights from prospects and sales consultants.
• Clarify funding strategies for Defined Benefit and Cash Balance plans, including PBGC and non-PBGC plans, limits and minimums, plan adoptions, and any relevant new legislation.
• Oversee a portfolio of both existing and newly implemented clients, involving data review, testing, valuation preparation, and necessary government and regulatory filings.
• Leverage analytical software to analyze employee census data, current 401(k) and Profit Sharing plan documents, and ownership data to develop a Defined Benefit, Cash Balance, and/or 401(k)/Profit Sharing plan that meets the client’s needs while adhering to all relevant limitations, coverage, and nondiscrimination testing requirements established by ERISA.
• Identify and execute necessary changes and/or amendments to plan documents to meet client requirements or address client inquiries.
• Track the receipt of client census information to prioritize the completion of annual reporting obligations.
• Collaborate with administrators to ensure timely completion of discrimination compliance testing.
• Offer insights and support to colleagues involved in the administration of both 401(k) and cash balance or defined benefit plans.
• Deliver internal training to Alerus Sales and Administration Staff.
• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent relevant experience as an enrolled actuary approved by the Joint Board for the Enrollment of Actuaries in Active Status.
• Over 10 years of experience in complex defined contribution plan administration, including non-qualified plans, cross testing allocations, and other distinctive plan designs.
• Membership in the American Academy of Actuaries, Society of Actuaries, and/or the American Society of Pension Professionals & Actuaries.
• Possession of ASPPA’s MSEA certification or an equivalent qualification.
• Capability to perform all aspects of retirement plan compliance testing and allocations with minimal oversight.
• Ability to prioritize tasks, manage multiple projects, and meet deadlines in a dynamic environment.
• Exceptional written and verbal communication, organizational, and client service skills are essential.
• Maintain professional relationships with both internal and external clients.
• Work autonomously and establish priorities effectively.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities with a keen attention to detail.
• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel.
