This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Cyprus.
β’ Evaluate internal data sources (alerts, chargebacks, disputes, anomaly reports, ML models) and external trends (card schemes, partners, law enforcement, industry intelligence) to identify emerging fraud risks tied to the acquiring business.
β’ Transform identified patterns into clearly defined acquiring fraud scenarios, addressing areas such as Card-Present and Card-not-Present fraud, friendly fraud and dispute abuse, merchant fraud, transaction laundering, enumeration, and testing attacks.
β’ Continuously update and enhance the Acquiring Fraud Typology Library, ensuring alignment with scheme rules, regulatory expectations, and Finomβs risk appetite.
β’ Collaborate closely with the Fraud Risk Manager, product, engineering, and ML teams to accurately translate acquiring fraud scenarios into rules, thresholds, and controls, as well as machine-learning features and signals.
β’ Engage in back-testing, validation, and fine-tuning of acquiring fraud controls before they go live.
β’ Track performance metrics (fraud rate, chargeback ratio, false positives, merchant friction) and recommend optimization strategies.
β’ Serve as a Second Line challenger, offering independent oversight of acquiring fraud risk decisions made in the First Line.
β’ Assist with scheme-related issues such as Visa / Mastercard monitoring programs, dispute ratios, and remediation actions.
β’ Foster effective stakeholder management with product teams, risk management, quality assurance, and operations teams.
β’ Create training materials and guidance for acquiring fraud analysts, dispute teams, and QA.
β’ Help draft and review system requirements, procedures, and internal policies associated with acquiring fraud prevention.
β’ Actively contribute to process improvement initiatives and ad-hoc projects within the Financial Crime Risk Management function.
β’ Carry out other responsibilities as reasonably required to enhance operational efficiency and prevent fraud loss at Finom.
β’ Proficient in English with full working capability.
β’ 2β4+ years of experience in fraud risk, acquiring fraud, card fraud, or payments risk within a fintech, PSP, or regulated financial institution.
β’ Background in fraud prevention, detection, investigations, and mitigations within the financial sector (Banking, PSP, FinTech).
β’ Strong understanding of card fraud typologies, card scheme regulations, and dispute / chargeback processes.
β’ Familiarity with the payments ecosystem, including both issuing and acquiring.
β’ Experience with fraud rules, scenarios, or ML-driven controls (end-to-end lifecycle preferred).
β’ Proficient in analyzing large datasets; experience with SQL and/or BI tools is a significant advantage.
β’ Excellent analytical and critical-thinking abilities.
β’ Detail-oriented, proactive, and comfortable in a fast-paced, scaling environment.
