This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Virginia.
• Facilitate multiple online Supplemental Instruction sessions weekly to foster engaging student discussions on challenging course material (40%).
• Develop engaging activities suitable for online sessions to involve students in both the session and course material, moving beyond mere lecturing (40%).
• Employ effective course-specific study and learning techniques to enhance students’ potential for academic advancement (10%).
• Attend mandatory SI Leader Orientation, training sessions, and scheduled meetings as required by the Director of Tutoring Services (5%).
• Perform SI-related administrative tasks as assigned by the Director of Online Tutoring Services (5%).
• Must be a current Residential undergraduate or graduate student.
• Achieved an "A" or "B" in the course you intend to tutor.
• Must have a cumulative LU GPA of at least 3.0.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills, capable of interacting with individuals from diverse educational, cultural, and social backgrounds.
• A passion for supporting and assisting students in enhancing their understanding of course material and effective study techniques.
• High level of responsibility, reliability, punctuality, and organizational skills.
• Must demonstrate appropriate and professional behavior.
• A letter of recommendation from the instructor of the course(s) is preferred.
• Previous tutoring experience is preferred.
• An "A" in each course you wish to tutor is preferred.
• Excellent communication skills are preferred.
