This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Facilitate tax consultations through virtual meetings with military personnel and their families.
• Conduct virtual tax consulting sessions using secure telephonic and audio/video communication platforms.
• Provide information and educational resources to assist participants with their tax situations and filing processes.
• Analyze intricate tax scenarios and interpret relevant regulations and guidance.
• Counsel participants on tax implications associated with military service, deployments, relocations, retirement, separation, multi-state residency, and other aspects of military life.
• Utilize independent professional judgment in evaluating tax situations and determining appropriate guidance and referral options.
• Manage participant caseloads, prepare for sessions, document interactions, and follow up on activities.
• Articulate complex tax concepts clearly to a diverse range of audiences.
• Handle sensitive and confidential participant information in accordance with privacy and security protocols.
• Operate independently with minimal supervision while collaborating within a distributed professional services team.
• Provide services during designated operating hours, including evenings and weekends for OCONUS participants.
• Ensure accurate and timely documentation is maintained.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
• A minimum of two (2) years of experience in providing tax preparation services.
• At least one active certification: Enrolled Agent or Certified Public Accountant (CPA).
• Strong familiarity with the military community and its unique needs and challenges.
• Comprehensive understanding of military-specific tax issues.
• Demonstrated knowledge of federal and state individual income tax concepts.
• Proficient analytical, organizational, and documentation skills.
• Exceptional communication and customer service abilities.
• Must be a US citizen.
• Capability to manage occasional surge workloads associated with major events or campaigns.
• Ability to work effectively in fully remote environments.
• Capacity to endure prolonged periods of sitting and working on a computer.
• Must be able to obtain and maintain a Public Trust Tier II clearance.
• Must be current with filing federal, state, and local income taxes.
• No current delinquency on federal debt unless a payment plan is established.
• Previous experience supporting military populations, veterans, or military family programs is preferred.
• Prior experience with Military OneSource, financial counseling, or employee assistance programs is preferred.
• Strongly preferred: experience in tax research, tax advisory services, or financial education.
