Accounts Receivable Specialist

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Wisconsin.

📋 Description

• Review, analyze, and process billed claims to ensure accuracy, including charges, subscriber information, diagnosis and procedure codes, late charges, and supporting documents.

• Submit claims efficiently in accordance with payer contracts, federal and state regulations, departmental standards, and form requirements.

• Communicate with commercial, governmental, and other payers through phone, correspondence, and electronic systems to follow up on claims.

• Address issues related to unpaid, underpaid, denied, rejected, delayed, and unanswered claims.

• Identify reasons for denial and underpayment, taking corrective measures to secure reimbursement.

• Prepare, draft, and submit technical and clinical appeals with comprehensive documentation.

• Re-bill accounts upon receipt of corrected demographic, insurance, or third-party information.

• Update patient records and verify insurance, payer, and patient demographic data.

• Review reports to track claim status, payment variances, denial patterns, and outstanding accounts.

• Document account activities, payer communications, correspondence, and actions in host systems or tracking tools.

• Maintain an understanding of payer requirements, contracts, and relevant regulations.

• Identify root causes of accounts receivable issues and relay findings and recommendations to management.

• Develop collection strategies to resolve accounts while adhering to productivity and quality standards.


⛳️ Requirements

• Minimum of one year of experience in revenue cycle management, medical billing, follow-up, and collections, or possess a related degree/certification in Healthcare Management.

• Proficient in basic computer applications, especially Microsoft Excel.

• High School diploma or GED is preferred.

• Excellent verbal and written communication abilities.

• Must be at least 18 years old.

• Capability to move freely, including standing, stooping, walking, bending, pushing, and pulling.

• Ability to lift up to 25 pounds without assistance.

• Willingness to work Monday–Friday, from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
