Accounts Receivable Specialist

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Texas.

📋 Description

• Engage with insurance carriers daily to follow up on and collect overdue amounts related to outstanding medical claims concerning denials or changes in benefits.

• Maintain an accurate and current aging report for assigned accounts, including accounts receivable analysis and follow-up activities.

• Stay informed about billing and medical policies applicable to all payers.

• Possess a solid understanding of both In and Out of Network reimbursement processes and methodologies.

• Generate and monitor appeals necessary to contest denials or incorrect payments.

• Examine intricate denials and tasks assigned by the payment posting team, resolving them as necessary, including reviewing requests for refunds, disputes, and appeals.

• Collaborate across all Revenue Cycle Management departments to address and resolve claims payment issues.

• Adhere to and ensure compliance with all company policies and procedures, as well as the overall mission and values of the organization.

• Partner with the Accounts Receivable Supervisor to review and resolve open accounts as assigned.

• Execute additional duties as assigned.


⛳️ Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED.

• A minimum of 3 years of experience managing Accounts Receivable and engaging in direct follow-up with payers.

• At least 1 year of experience effectively communicating, both verbally and in writing, with insurance payers and within internal company communications.

• 3 years of experience working with medical terminology, ICD10, CPT, HCPCs coding, and HIPAA regulations.

• 2 years of experience in data processing and analytical skills, with proficiency in Excel and Microsoft Office Suite, as well as familiarity with medical practice management software and electronic medical records.

• 3 years of experience dealing with commercial, government, and state insurance payers and their reimbursement policies and procedures.

• 3 years of experience managing complex insurance matters, including correct payer assignment, EOB adjustments, and refunds to accounts.
