This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Arizona, +13 more states.
• Oversee designated insurance accounts receivable to guarantee prompt reimbursements and minimize aging balances.
• Conduct follow-ups with insurance payers regarding pending claims, underpayments, denials, and discrepancies in payments.
• Investigate and address claim denials by submitting corrected claims, appeals, reconsiderations, and relevant documentation.
• Review claim edits and rejections to ensure accurate resubmission and to prevent future denials.
• Enter insurance payments, adjustments, and remittances into the billing system.
• Carry out daily reconciliations of payments against ERAs, EOBs, bank deposits, and payment reports.
• Research and resolve issues related to unapplied cash, payment variances, overpayments, and underpayments.
• Reconcile payer payments with contracted reimbursement rates and escalate any discrepancies identified.
• Maintain comprehensive documentation of accounts receivable activities, payer communications, payment research, and outcomes.
• Address patient inquiries regarding claims, billing statements, payments, balances, and billing policies.
• Communicate effectively with providers, payers, and internal stakeholders to resolve and prevent issues related to claims and payments.
• Collaborate with teams in Eligibility & Benefits, Credentialing, Finance, Clinical Operations, and other cross-functional departments.
• Analyze accounts receivable, payment, and denial data to identify trends, root causes, and areas for process enhancement.
• Monitor and report on accounts receivable performance, accuracy of payment postings, denial trends, aging, and other revenue cycle metrics.
• Assist with month-end closing, payment balancing, reporting, and audit requests.
• Suggest enhancements to improve payment accuracy, cash collections, and reduction of denials.
• Ensure adherence to organizational policies, payer requirements, financial regulations, HIPAA, and healthcare billing standards.
• Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration or relevant coursework.
• A minimum of 2 years of experience in healthcare revenue cycle, specifically in accounts receivable, payment posting, or insurance billing.
• Understanding of medical billing, insurance claims processing, and payer reimbursement practices.
• Experience in resolving claim denials, underpayments, and discrepancies in payments.
• Proficient in posting payments and reconciling ERAs, EOBs, deposits, and unapplied cash.
• Proven ability to work effectively in a remote environment while managing priorities independently.
• Proficient in EMR and medical billing systems.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational abilities with a keen attention to detail.
• Excellent communication and customer service skills.
• Proficient in Google Workspace, including Sheets, Docs, and Gmail, with the capability to swiftly learn new systems.
• Preferred: Experience in startup or high-growth healthcare environments.
• Preferred: Experience in telehealth or virtual care settings.
• Preferred: Experience with payer contract reimbursement analysis and payment variance investigations.
• Preferred: Familiarity with payer portals, clearinghouses, EFT/ERA processing, and payment reconciliation.
• Preferred: Experience in reporting revenue cycle metrics such as accounts receivable aging, denials, and net collection rates.
• Preferred: Familiarity with Athenahealth, Apero, Salesforce, or similar healthcare platforms.
• Preferred: Certifications such as CRCR, CPB, CPC, or other relevant healthcare revenue cycle credentials.
• Salary range of $47,000–$52,000 per year with eligibility for bonuses.
