This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Texas.
• Responsible for collecting overdue accounts receivable from both government and commercial third-party payers.
• Engages with insurance companies to inquire about the status of pending claims.
• Handles the processing and follow-up of appeals directed to insurance companies.
• Re-files claims as necessary to ensure proper processing.
• Manages daily correspondence efficiently.
• Maintains a fundamental level of proficiency in spreadsheet usage.
• Reviews adjustment requests and completes them when appropriate.
• Addresses manual tasks assigned to Accounts Receivable for further follow-up.
• Works on outstanding accounts receivable from designated work queues.
• Achieves productivity standards established by the department.
• Maintains an accuracy rating of 97% or higher on audited accounts.
• Ensures the highest level of confidentiality is upheld.
• Aims to become a subject matter expert (SME) across multiple workflows and various payers.
• Identifies and reports trends to management.
• Performs any other assigned duties.
• High school diploma or equivalent is required.
• An associate or bachelor’s degree in business administration or a related field is preferred.
• 1-3 years of professional experience in healthcare is preferred.
• 1-3 years of experience in Accounts Receivable is preferred.
• Exceptional verbal and written communication skills to maintain professionalism in all forms of communication.
• Basic mathematical skills for calculating anesthesia units, proper reimbursement, and percentages for suitable adjustments.
• Familiarity with medical terminology.
• Advanced understanding of insurance processing, guidelines, laws, and Explanation of Benefits (EOBs).
• Knowledge of managed care, Medicare, and Medicaid guidelines.
• High accuracy data entry skills.
• Understanding of CPT, ICD-10, and ASA coding.
• Strong problem-solving capabilities.
• Ability to make informed decisions with sound judgment.
• Excellent analytical skills and attention to detail.
• Proficient in gathering and reporting information.
• Capability to work effectively with staff, physicians, and external clients.
• Must exhibit a pleasant demeanor and possess a high tolerance level.
• Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team.
• Capable of working independently with minimal supervision.
• Must be self-motivated and goal-oriented.
• Proficient in computer applications including MS Word, MS Excel, MS Outlook, and MS Teams.
• Effective communicator with the public.
• Eligible for a quarterly bonus.
