Accounts Receivable Representative II

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Alaska, +2 more states.

📋 Description

• Contacts insurance providers to inquire about the status of pending claims

• Processes and follows up on appeals directed to insurance companies

• Resubmits claims as necessary

• Handles daily correspondence

• Maintains a fundamental level of proficiency in using spreadsheets

• Audits adjustment requests and completes them when appropriate

• Resolves manual tasks assigned to Accounts Receivable for follow-up

• Manages outstanding accounts receivable from designated work queues

• Achieves productivity standards established by the department

• Maintains an accuracy rating of 97% or higher on audited accounts

• Upholds the highest level of confidentiality

• Strives to become a Subject Matter Expert (SME) across multiple workflows and various payers

• Identifies and communicates trends to leadership

• Performs all other assigned duties.


⛳️ Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent

• An associate or bachelor’s degree in business administration or a related field is preferred

• 1-3 years of professional/healthcare experience is preferred

• 1-3 years of accounts receivable experience is preferred

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills to maintain professionalism in all forms of communication

• Basic mathematical skills for calculating anesthesia units, ensuring proper reimbursement, and determining percentages for appropriate adjustments

• Familiarity with medical terminology

• Advanced understanding of insurance processing, guidelines, laws, and Explanation of Benefits (EOBs)

• Knowledge of managed care, Medicare, and Medicaid guidelines

• High accuracy in data entry skills

• Familiarity with CPT, ICD-10, and ASA codes

• Strong problem-solving abilities

• Decision-making capability with sound judgment

• Strong analytical skills and attention to detail

• Ability to gather and report information effectively

• Capacity to work well with staff, physicians, and external customers

• Must possess a friendly demeanor and a high tolerance level

• Ability to collaborate as part of a team

• Capability to work independently with minimal supervision

• Must be self-motivated and goal-oriented

• Proficient in computer applications including MS Word, MS Excel, MS Outlook, and MS Teams

• Ability to communicate effectively with the public.
