This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Denmark.
• **The Role**
• We are looking for a proactive Accounting Specialist to take charge of end-to-end accounting and key finance operations for a multi-entity organization operating in various jurisdictions. This is a hands-on position where you will be responsible for maintaining audit-ready books, enforcing disciplined controls, and ensuring compliant reporting across both crypto and fiat activities, collaborating closely with leadership. Additional operational details will be provided later in the process (and under NDA where necessary).
• **Key Responsibilities**
• **Accounting & Close (End-to-End Ownership):**
• - Manage the monthly, quarterly, and year-end closing processes across entities, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and timeliness.
• - Oversee the general ledger, including journal entries, accruals, prepaids, foreign exchange revaluation, and supporting schedules.
• - Implement a standard close calendar and checklist; drive the closing process to completion with established deadlines and accountability.
• - Maintain a monthly exceptions queue (missing invoices, unidentified transactions, stale reconciliation items) and resolve it consistently.
• - Ensure documentation is audit-ready by default (maintaining an organized evidence chain and clear support for every material balance/transaction).
• **Multi-Entity Accounting & Intercompany:**
• - Oversee bookkeeping across all entities, ensuring uniform policies, coding, and documentation standards.
• - Maintain efficient intercompany operations: invoicing, intercompany reconciliations, and account balances (including interest accruals where applicable).
• - Support arm’s-length and related-party transactions with clear narratives and documentation (agreements, approvals, invoices, and reconciliations).
• **Crypto Accounting & Reconciliation (Must Be Strong):**
• - Lead the comprehensive accounting of crypto transactions across wallets, exchanges/custodians, networks, and tokens.
• - Ensure crypto balances are reconciled and substantiated with robust audit trails (wallet addresses, transaction hashes, exchange statements, etc.).
• - Establish clear classification rules for crypto transactions (e.g., revenue vs. other income, custody transfers vs. external payments, gas/fees, staking/yield, airdrops, liquidity provision).
• - Maintain records for realized vs. unrealized gains/losses and cost basis/lots as needed for reporting and CPA support.
• **Controls, Compliance & Governance:**
• - Implement and uphold financial controls suitable for a streamlined team (approvals, segregation of duties when feasible, documentation standards).
• - Maintain a compliance calendar (in collaboration with external advisors) and ensure ongoing obligations are monitored and supported.
• - Coordinate with external accountants, auditors, tax advisors, and legal counsel to comply with multi-jurisdiction requirements.
• **Reporting & Leadership Support:**
• - Deliver clear, management-ready reports: P&L, balance sheet, cash flow, and concise variance explanations.
• - Generate burn reports and spending insights (top vendors/categories, drivers, and recommendations for savings and efficiency).
• - Assist in budgeting and forecasting cycles (annual budget plus rolling forecast; budget vs. actual with variance justifications).
• **Treasury & Cash Visibility:**
• - Maintain visibility across fiat accounts and crypto holdings; support payment operations with robust authorization and recordkeeping.
• - Provide regular cash/treasury reports (balances, upcoming obligations, runway snapshot, and operational risk flags).
• **Requirements:**
• - 6+ years of experience in accounting, controllership, or finance operations roles, with full ownership of closing and reporting processes.
• - Previous experience in web3/crypto companies, exchanges, or crypto-centric operations is mandatory.
• - Strong technical accounting foundation (knowledge of IFRS/GAAP relevant to the role).
• - Proven experience with multi-entity accounting and operating across various jurisdictions.
• - Crypto-native accounting experience: wallets/exchanges, reconciliation, audit trails, and crypto-aware controls.
• - Strong documentation discipline and integrity (audit-ready by default).
• - Comfortable working in a lean, high-ownership environment—able to execute and enhance systems simultaneously.
• - Excellent written communication skills; capable of clearly articulating financial issues to non-finance stakeholders.
• **Required Hands-on Experience:**
• - Xero (core accounting) - Mandatory
• - Cryptio (crypto accounting/reconciliation) - Mandatory
• **Nice to Have:**
• - Bookkeeping and compliance experience in one or more of the following: US, SVG (St. Vincent and the Grenadines), Panama, and UAE.
• - Experience in supporting audits, due diligence, or fundraising activities.
• - Familiarity with crypto accounting tools beyond Cryptio and/or blockchain analytics explorers.
• - Basic SQL/data proficiency for financial analysis.
• **Benefits We Offer:**
• - Collaborate with the ChainGPT core team on impactful AI and Web3 products within our ecosystem.
• - Remote-first work environment with flexible hours, emphasizing outcomes, trust, and ownership.
• - Competitive compensation, with performance-based incentives when applicable to the role.
• - Fast-paced environment with direct collaboration among all team members, including senior management, and clear accountability without micromanagement.
• - Support to help you excel in your role, including necessary tools, structured onboarding, and opportunities for growth.
