• Redesign the product accounting framework from scratch — Assess every process involved in loans, credit cards, and cash advances. Pinpoint inefficiencies or limitations and reconstruct them utilizing industry best practices, ensuring that troubleshooting is swift, taking only minutes rather than days.
• Manage the complete closing process — Oversee monthly and quarterly closings within product accounting, guaranteeing timely and precise reporting. Facilitate balance sheet reconciliations, journal entries, revenue recognition, accruals, and cash activities across all primary product lines.
• Collaborate with Engineering, Data Infrastructure, and BI — Ensure that appropriate accounting practices are integrated into new products from the outset — rather than retrofitted later. This necessitates genuine subject matter expertise, not merely coordination.
• Develop cross-functional strategies — Engage directly with FP&A, Capital Markets, and senior leadership to pinpoint cross-functional workstreams and proactively identify gaps, risks, and opportunities before they escalate into obstacles.
• Prepare for audit readiness — Create the necessary documentation, audit trails, and process controls that align with the company's future direction. You'll be the key individual who ensures that the financial records are prepared ahead of the auditors' arrival.
• Oversee accounting for intricate fintech products — Direct the accounting processes related to loan originations, servicing, interest income, charge-offs, as well as credit card and cash advance operations.
• Assist with audit and regulatory obligations — Compile workpapers, documentation, and reconciliations that satisfy the rigor required by annual audits and regulatory assessments.
• 7–10 years of accounting experience with extensive knowledge in fintech or financial services product accounting — including loans, credit cards, or cash advances; general accounting operations alone will not suffice.
• Experience in both a dynamic, high-growth startup and a structured public company setting — you understand what effective practices look like at scale and know how to work towards achieving them.
• High level of autonomy in your working style: you independently identify issues, prioritize tasks, and execute without needing guidance — you provide solutions rather than just status updates.
• Proven experience in managing or mentoring a team; you are prepared to lead two direct reports from day one and shape their developmental trajectory.
• History of proactively identifying issues and converting insights into actionable steps — you highlight problems early and take responsibility for their resolution.
• Strong understanding of U.S. GAAP and accounting operations across various product types.
• Proficient in Microsoft Excel; familiarity with NetSuite or similar ERP systems is advantageous.
• CPA or CPA-track is highly preferred.
• A builder’s mentality: you’re not just looking to maintain the status quo — you aim to enhance it.
• Virtual-first teamwork: The Tilt team collaborates across 14 countries, spanning 12 time zones and growing. You'll start with a work-from-home office reimbursement.
• Competitive pay: We value potential, and this is reflected in our competitive compensation packages and generous equity offerings.
• Comprehensive support: Access flexible health plans at every premium level, along with substantial subsidies that meet international standards.
• Visibility is assured: You will have direct access to our leadership team — we’re a team where innovative ideas are quickly recognized and shared.
• Paid global onsite events: Real connections happen in person: we meet biannually to reconnect over shared meals or kayaking adventures. (We’ve visited Vail, San Diego, and Mexico City, among others.)
• Recognition for impact: Growth opportunities arise from your contributions, rather than being bound by rigid promotion timelines.
