This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Michigan.
• Manage the closing and reporting cycle.
• Direct the month-end and year-end closing activities with an emphasis on precision, consistency, and punctuality.
• Prepare and evaluate journal entries related to assets, liabilities, revenues, and expenses.
• Ensure that financial statements provide a comprehensive and accurate representation of the business.
• Lead and nurture the accounting team.
• Guide and assist accounting personnel, establishing clear expectations and enhancing quality standards.
• Foster structure and accountability within the team while promoting growth and ownership.
• Act as a primary resource for complex accounting inquiries and decisions.
• Enhance financial accuracy and controls.
• Uphold integrity in the general ledger, reconciliations, and subsidiary ledgers.
• Proactively identify and address discrepancies.
• Ensure adherence to accounting principles, internal policies, and audit standards.
• Collaborate with finance leadership and operational teams to align reporting with business objectives.
• Assist external auditors and tax advisors by providing organized and clear documentation.
• Convert financial data into actionable insights that enable teams to make informed decisions.
• Enhance processes and scalability.
• Recognize opportunities to optimize workflows and minimize manual efforts.
• Implement enhancements that lead to quicker, clearer, and more reliable reporting.
• Contribute to the evolution of accounting practices to support a tech-driven, expanding organization.
• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline.
• Over 5 years of accounting experience, including leadership or supervisory roles.
• In-depth knowledge of accounting principles and financial reporting standards.
• CPA is highly preferred.
• Experience with enterprise accounting systems (Workday experience is a plus).
• Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel.
• Strong analytical abilities and meticulous attention to detail.
• Capability to lead work and effectively collaborate across teams.
