This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in New Jersey, +1 more state.
• Lead the monthly, quarterly, and annual accounting close processes.
• Manage the daily administration of the accounting close process and ensure reporting deadlines are met.
• Prepare and review financial statements along with supporting schedules for senior leadership.
• Review balance sheet reconciliations, general ledger account analyses, variance analyses, and intercompany settlements.
• Analyze financial statements for care centers and departments, investigate variances, and suggest corrective accounting entries.
• Oversee cash management, monitor liquidity, and manage company account funding.
• Collaborate with Accounts Payable, Payroll, and shared services teams to facilitate closing activities.
• Supervise revenue recognition processes and associated analyses.
• Prepare and review complex accounting analyses related to revenue, malpractice reserves, and other critical accounting areas.
• Ensure adherence to U.S. GAAP and company accounting policies.
• Maintain and enhance internal controls, accounting policies, and procedures.
• Support internal and external audits, including preparation of schedules, documentation, and management responses.
• Manage acquisition accounting for newly acquired practices, focusing on accounting process transitions, working capital cutoffs, and opening balance sheets.
• Assist in the integration of acquired practices into Axia's accounting and financial reporting framework.
• Act as a key administrator for general ledger and accounting systems.
• Identify and implement opportunities for process improvements, standardization, and automation.
• Collaborate with Finance, Operations, Revenue Cycle, IT, Payroll, and other departments to address accounting issues.
• Provide financial analysis and reporting support to leadership and operational stakeholders.
• Assist with special projects, strategic initiatives, and ad hoc analyses as assigned by the Assistant Controller or Controller.
• Lead and mentor accounting staff.
• A Bachelor's degree in Accounting is required.
• At least 7 years of progressive accounting experience in public accounting, corporate accounting, or a combination of both.
• Previous experience in leading and developing accounting staff is essential.
• Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP and financial reporting principles is required.
• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including pivot tables, complex formulas, data analysis, and financial reporting.
• In-depth understanding of general ledger accounting, account reconciliations, and financial statement preparation.
• Experience utilizing ERP and accounting systems to enhance reporting, controls, and process improvements.
• Strong knowledge of ERP and accounting systems is mandatory.
• Comprehensive understanding of U.S. GAAP and its practical application is a must.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills are required.
• Ability to juggle multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong organizational and project management abilities.
• Effective verbal and written communication skills are essential.
• Strong interpersonal and relationship-building skills are a must.
• High level of accuracy, attention to detail, and professional judgment is expected.
• Applicants must currently be authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis.
• CPA designation is preferred.
• An MBA or Master's degree in Accounting or Finance is advantageous.
• Public accounting experience is preferred; experience with Big Four is a plus.
• Experience in a multi-site healthcare organization is preferred.
• Experience in supporting acquisitions, integrations, or multi-entity accounting environments is preferred.
• Familiarity with external audits and preparation of audit documentation is preferred.
• Experience with Microsoft Dynamics GP (Great Plains) is preferred.
• Education should be listed as 'Bachelor's or better in Accounting or a related field.'
