This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Canada.
• Lead focused cross-functional initiatives within the Core Business domain to address current control deficiencies and/or enhance operational efficiencies in the month-end closing process.
• Create a comprehensive project plan, effectively communicate project objectives, updates, resource requirements, and expected business outcomes.
• Serve as the primary liaison between the Operational close teams and stakeholders in Product, Engineering, Financial Platforms, Financial Systems, and Technical Accounting to integrate new products and/or processes into the General Ledger.
• Proactively assess existing procedures and identify opportunities for process enhancements to ensure timely monthly closings, accurate accounting entries, and operational efficiency.
• Cultivate a profound understanding of current accounting processes and propose a strategic path that balances scalability, effort level, delivery timeline, financial risk, and cost.
• Collaborate with the Record-to-Report team to identify problem areas and convert requirements into report requests with our Financial Systems team.
• As directed by the Director of Core Business, address specific business topics and/or intricate cross-functional challenges.
• A minimum of 4 years of relevant professional experience is required (public accounting experience is preferred).
• Strong understanding of US GAAP, with the ability to collaborate with the Technical Accounting team on the implementation and compliance of accounting policies.
• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel is required (including skills such as VLOOKUPS, conditional statements, pivot tables, data analysis, and what-if analysis).
• Experience with SQL or a keen interest in developing SQL skills is preferred.
• Exceptional project management capabilities and the ability to promote cross-functional collaboration to effect significant improvements in the closing process.
• A strong desire to enhance processes and simplify your own role over time, taking ownership of all facets of your functional area.
