This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Texas.
• Act as the subject matter expert on HIPAA Privacy and Security regulations along with state and local privacy laws, including OCR and NIST guidance and controls.
• Investigate and document privacy-related incidents.
• Perform risk assessments to evaluate the impact of incidents.
• Ensure compliance with federal and state reporting obligations.
• Conduct assessments to monitor staff compliance with privacy and security policies and procedures.
• Foster privacy awareness and cultivate a culture of compliance among staff members.
• Create and maintain HIPAA compliance documentation, such as privacy policies, health information management procedures, Incident Response Plans, Privacy Impact Assessments, and related controls.
• Provide 24/7 availability for emergency incidents related to privacy and security that affect company and client operations.
• Assist clients with requests related to privacy rights, including access and amendment requests as well as privacy complaints.
• Collaborate with the client’s Contracting Officer to support contract initiatives and deliverables.
• Contribute to Corporate privacy initiatives, documentation, and training efforts.
• Perform other duties as required to fulfill Gainwell or client account needs.
• A minimum of five (5) years of experience in healthcare privacy activities.
• Proven experience in overseeing the establishment, implementation, and compliance with corporate policies regarding privacy, confidentiality, and information release.
• Experience in developing, conducting, and reporting on privacy risk assessments.
• Background in the healthcare payer or insurance industry is preferred.
• A Bachelor’s degree or equivalent diploma, or a combination of education, certification, and relevant experience.
• Must possess and maintain a privacy certification from HCCA, IAPP, AHIMA, or an equivalent body.
• CIPP/US certification is preferred.
• Experience in a healthcare payer environment or with a state or federal agency is desirable.
• Must be able to work in EST or CST time zones.
