This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Illinois, +2 more states.
• Identify, support, and secure new business opportunities with existing buying accounts.
• Seek out new and specifying customers by networking and conducting cold calls within the designated Sales Territory.
• Carry out customer needs assessments to thoroughly understand the most suitable material solutions for both short-term and long-term growth; communicate those requirements internally and collaborate with key departments such as Marketing Technology and Asset Management to ensure coherence on growth and market strategies.
• Recognize key innovation opportunities at leading OEM(s) by leveraging a comprehensive technical understanding of applications and customer performance/economic requirements.
• Cultivate and sustain relationships with key decision-makers at the OEM(s) across all functional areas, including Design Engineering, Project Management, Materials Engineering, Purchasing, R&D, etc.
• Where relevant, negotiate and execute sales contracts.
• Create, implement, and maintain a strategic account plan for each designated key account and OEM.
• Conduct a monthly rolling sales forecast for customers and integrate it into the IBP Process.
• Gain proficiency in managing sales opportunities in Salesforce, utilizing it to archive key emails, quotes, and call reports.
• Perform all other duties as assigned.
• Bachelor’s degree in a scientific, technical, or business discipline.
• A minimum of 5 years of professional experience in a commercial role (Sales, Marketing, Business Development, or Product Management) within the polymer industry.
• Cross-functional experience in the thermoset polymer sector in both Technical and Commercial capacities.
• Willingness to travel for meetings with customers, innovation centers, and headquarters, with a travel target of approximately 50% of work time.
• Basic computer and software skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office (e.g., Excel) and Salesforce.com.
• Technical knowledge of polymers, particularly related to meeting application performance requirements and material specifications.
• Strong communication skills and the ability to engage with various levels of customer personnel.
• Previous experience in the polymers industry, including knowledge of markets, applications, and customers.
• Ability to manage activities across a matrix organization and collaborate effectively with global business partners.
• Capable of analyzing and implementing corrective action plans to address business gaps.
• Proven proficiency in prioritization and decision-making.
