Academic Advisor – Master’s of Science in Counseling Program

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Act as the main point of contact for graduate students enrolled in the Master’s in Counseling program.

• Offer personalized, developmentally appropriate academic advising to counseling students from their initial enrollment to graduation.

• Aid students with course planning, registration, understanding program requirements, and navigating academic policies.

• Perform proactive outreach to students facing academic, personal, or logistical challenges and facilitate referrals to the appropriate support services.

• Maintain consistent communication with advisees via email, video conferencing, and scheduled advising sessions.

• Assist students in comprehending fieldwork prerequisites, timelines, and documentation requirements.

• Monitor student progression through the program, including start dates, leaves of absence, pacing, eligibility for clinical courses, and graduation timelines.

• Employ proactive advising strategies that encourage persistence and academic success.

• Collaborate with faculty, fieldwork staff, admissions personnel, and academic administration to aid student advancement.


⛳️ Requirements

• 1-2 years of experience in a college/university setting (registrar, admissions, financial aid, academic department office, student services).

• Proven knowledge of Academic Advising, Student Retention, Data Tracking, and other relevant skills.

• A Master’s degree in Counseling, Higher Education, Student Affairs, Psychology, Social Work, or a related field.

• Familiarity with graduate counseling programs, including professional expectations and training requirements.

• Excellent interpersonal communication skills with the capability to support diverse student populations.

• Ability to handle multiple tasks, track detailed information, and perform effectively in a fast-paced environment.
