Workday Security Administrator – Modernization Program

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Virginia, +1 more state.

📋 Description

• Set up, configure, and manage security roles, groups, and access controls to meet organizational requirements and policies.

• Develop, implement, and uphold security policies, procedures, and guidelines.

• Stay informed about product roadmaps and contribute to strategic discussions by illustrating how Workday can facilitate strategic functional objectives.

• Oversee authentication policies to establish user login methods such as SSO, MFA, IP restrictions, and step-up authentication, while applying security controls in accordance with the chosen login methods.

• Collaborate with key stakeholders to enhance awareness of Workday's security features and limitations.

• Engage in IT architecture discussions that influence Workday or relate to security and identity management.

• Coordinate with Information Security to outline incident response plans for Workday.

• Diagnose and resolve security-related issues, including access challenges for end-users.

• Collaborate closely with business partners, HR, Finance, IT, and other teams to translate security requirements into effective best practice solutions.

• Create and maintain detailed documentation of security configurations, processes, and incident resolutions.

• Troubleshoot unexpected outcomes or process deficiencies and suggest improvements.

• Provide internal client support by addressing data access and system issues, recommending solutions, and implementing enhancements and fixes.

• Assist with program management for various HR and Finance initiatives, including the rollout and implementation of new and ongoing programs.

• Ensure data integrity within Workday and aid in data audits and the cleanup of security role permissions.

• Support both internal and external audits by supplying documentation and ensuring compliance with access protocols.

• Actively engage in the Workday Community to stay updated on current trends and innovations.

• Monitor system activity for security incidents, suspicious activities, and vulnerabilities.

• Respond to and investigate security incidents, coordinating with Information Security and other pertinent departments to resolve issues promptly.

• Document security incidents, resolutions, and lessons learned to enhance future response strategies.

• Communicate expectations clearly to all project team members.

• Foster positive, professional relationships with staff.

• Establish effective communication channels with project and team personnel, addressing all concerns appropriately.

• Ensure that WVU achieves its objectives and deadlines for significant IT projects and initiatives.


⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related discipline.

• A minimum of two (2) years of relevant experience in the following:

• Configuring security, defining data access controls, managing third-party integrations, and overseeing business process security and access for large enterprise applications.

• Designing, architecting, and implementing secure authentication and authorization solutions using Identity and Access Management (IAM), SSO, OpenID Connect (OIDC), SAML, and OAuth2.

• Any equivalent combination of related education and/or experience will be taken into account.

• Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:

• Proficient in XML, XSLT, SOAP, REST, and other integration technologies.

• Exceptional problem-solving and communication abilities.

• Capacity to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced setting.

• It is preferred that the Security Administrator has:

• Experience with Workday security and business process frameworks.

• Workday Pro certification(s).

• Familiarity with HR and Finance systems and data structures.

• Understanding of Agile or Scrum methodologies.
