Infrastructure Security Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Europe.

📋 Description

• Oversee the security of Alpen’s cloud infrastructure, production systems, internal platforms, and operational environments.

• Design, implement, and sustain security measures across AWS and cloud-native setups.

• Spearhead initiatives for infrastructure hardening across servers, containers, Kubernetes clusters, and cloud services.

• Lead identity and access management programs, focusing on least-privilege access, RBAC, privileged access management, and secrets management.

• Manage vulnerability processes, remediation efforts, and infrastructure security assessments.

• Enhance security monitoring, detection engineering, alerting, and incident response capabilities.

• Investigate security breaches, perform root-cause analyses, and direct response and recovery actions.

• Create and maintain incident response playbooks, operational procedures, and security runbooks.

• Collaborate with engineering teams to secure CI/CD pipelines, deployment workflows, and developer platforms.

• Assess infrastructure architecture and operational modifications to identify and mitigate security risks.

• Automate security controls and embed security tools into engineering workflows.

• Conduct threat modeling and architectural reviews for infrastructure and platform services.

• Assist with endpoint security, device management, vendor security evaluations, and internal security initiatives.

• Establish security metrics, reporting, and visibility into operational risks across the organization.

• Work effectively within a globally distributed team.

⛳️ Requirements

• A minimum of 7 years of experience in infrastructure security, security engineering, security operations, or related fields.

• Extensive experience securing cloud environments, particularly AWS.

• Profound understanding of Linux systems administration and security.

• Practical experience with Kubernetes, containers, and cloud-native infrastructure.

• Familiarity with SIEM, EDR, logging, monitoring, and incident response tools.

• Strong knowledge of networking concepts, VPNs, DNS, firewalls, load balancing, and network security principles.

• Experience in implementing IAM, RBAC, secrets management, and privileged access controls.

• Expertise in securing CI/CD pipelines and infrastructure-as-code environments.

• Proficiency in scripting or programming languages such as Python, Go, Bash, Rust, or similar.

• Proven experience leading security initiatives in production environments.

• Experience in supporting blockchain, fintech, or financial infrastructure environments.

• Knowledge in securing Bitcoin, Layer 2, or distributed systems infrastructure.

• Familiarity with Terraform, Pulumi, Ansible, or similar infrastructure-as-code tools.

• Experience with SOC 2, ISO 27001, or similar security and compliance frameworks.

• Understanding of zero-trust architectures and modern cloud security practices.

• Experience with threat hunting, detection engineering, and threat intelligence programs.

• A background in startup or high-growth environments.
