Workday Developer – Java

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Canada.

• Collaborating closely with stakeholders to comprehend their needs, designing, and implementing effective solutions.

• Creating and deploying new extensions within the Workday Environment.

• Drafting business requirement documents, configuration documents, and process flows.

• Ensuring fair outcomes for our customers, while maintaining a high level of expertise in conduct.

• Offering support to fellow team members and key stakeholders.

• Taking ownership of significant work from start to finish, including clarifying requirements, design, implementation, testing, and handoff.

• Making informed technical design decisions within your area of responsibility and highlighting trade-offs that the team or client should consider.

• Providing honest effort estimates, adhering to committed timelines, and proactively identifying risks when deadlines may be at risk.

• Engaging with clients to gather requirements, suggest approaches, and address change requests.

• Contributing to project design documentation, technical specifications, and inputs for the Software Requirements Specification.

• Effectively utilizing AI coding tools (such as Claude Code, Codex, Cursor, etc.) as a standard part of delivery, including writing or configuring agentic workflows to meaningfully enhance productivity.

• Judging the appropriateness of AI/ML solutions, recognizing when they may be excessive or introduce more risk than benefit.

• Establishing and maintaining build environments, CI configurations, and other infrastructure to support the team's delivery processes.

• Assisting newer developers in overcoming obstacles and providing code reviews that focus on teaching rather than merely gatekeeping.

• Participating in peer code reviews throughout the team and contributing to engineering standards.

• Leading a development team as a designer, technical decision-maker, and daily point of contact.

• Overseeing the team's technical design, architectural choices, and definition of "done."

• Distributing tasks amongst the team to balance delivery, individual development, and team capacity.

• Estimating larger projects, defending these estimates to stakeholders, and adjusting plans as necessary if scope or risks change.

• Preparing regular status updates and communicating project risks, blockers, and progress to management and clients.

• Representing your team in cross-functional discussions with the Project Manager, QA Lead, designers, and the client.

• Setting core working hours and team rituals in collaboration with the Project Manager and QA Lead.

• Resolving conflicts within the team and between the team and other departments, escalating only when absolutely necessary.

• Participating in the recruitment, onboarding, and training of new development staff joining your team.

• Mentoring developers on your team and, when applicable, leading or coaching client developers as part of Atimi's mentorship program.

• Making decisions regarding AI tooling and agentic workflows for the team, including which tools to use, where automated agents can be trusted to ship code, and where human review is essential.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science from an accredited university.

• Over 5 years of relevant experience implementing Workday integrations.

• More than 6 years of software development experience (Java, Typescript, or Python).

• Expertise in the Workday HR module.

• Proficiency in Prism Analytics.

• Experience with WD Studio.

• Direct experience working with clients and other project stakeholders to define and refine requirements.

• Strong proficiency in English (both written and verbal).

• Expertise in WD Extend.

• Experience with Enterprise Interface Builder.

• Knowledge in finance.

• Familiarity with Salesforce.

• Experience with Peoplesoft.
