This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Minnesota.
• Oversee all components of customer wind turbines, encompassing electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, and civil systems.
• Uphold a strong commitment to safety awareness at all times.
• Ascend turbine towers reaching heights of 300 ft. or more multiple times a day.
• Identify and rectify mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic issues within turbines.
• Troubleshoot problems, determine root causes, implement corrective measures, or initiate manufacturer service cases.
• Execute energy isolation following Lock Out / Tag Out Procedures.
• Conduct pad-mounted transformer switching in accordance with Hazardous Energy Controls Procedures.
• Undertake both minor and major corrective tasks on wind turbines.
• Carry out preventative and corrective maintenance, as well as performance monitoring and evaluation.
• Ensure turbines are maintained safely, efficiently, and to high standards of quality.
• Manage EH&S documentation and complete work orders, timesheets, tool and PPE inventories, and other paperwork within Maximo.
• High School diploma or GED is mandatory.
• Candidates for Wind Technician I must complete Level I job performance measures and training at the Deriva Energy renewables academy within one year.
• External candidates for Wind Technician II must possess over 3 years of relevant work experience.
• External Wind Technician II candidates are required to pass Turbine Technician I and Electrical Operator I job performance measures within their probationary period.
• Internal Wind Technician II candidates need a minimum of 1 year of technical experience with Deriva Energy as a Wind Technician.
• Internal candidates should have completed Turbine Technician-1 and Electrical Operator-1 job performance measures.
• A valid Driver's License is necessary.
• Capability to climb and work on turbine towers up to 300 ft. on a daily basis.
• Ability to lift weights of up to 75 lbs. independently.
• Willingness to work outdoors in extreme weather conditions such as heat, cold, wind, rain, and snow.
• Proficiency in operating forklifts and commercial motor vehicles.
• Completion of an OEM or third-party technical specialty training program is required.
• Must successfully pass a background check and drug test prior to the start date.
• Safe Working Weight Requirement: maximum weight of 265 pounds.
• Applicants must be authorized to work for any employer in the U.S.; visa sponsorship for employment is not available.
