This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Colorado.
• Collaborate with site and hub leadership to fulfill contractual obligations according to customer specifications and daily activities, which involve any aspect of the electrical and mechanical equipment utilized in the GE wind turbine generator.
• Conduct maintenance, repairs, or part replacements to rectify malfunctions.
• Diagnose complex mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical issues on variable pitch and variable speed turbines.
• Assist in various areas of site operations as directed by the manager with minimal supervision, while adhering to all safety protocols.
• Carry out some diagnostic electrical analyses.
• Record all work completed using computer-based service reporting procedures.
• Collaborate with and respond to GE’s remote operations center when required.
• High School Diploma or GED.
• A minimum of 1 year of experience as a Wind Technician/Wind Mechanic, or completion of a Wind Certificate Program/Associates Degree in Energy, or 2 years of electrical work experience.
• Successful completion of a Technical Knowledge Assessment.
• Basic computer proficiency.
• Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license.
• Ability to handle repetitive weights of up to 50 lbs and climb towers reaching up to 300 feet daily.
• Must meet specified manufacturer weight limits not to exceed 300 lbs, including necessary gear.
• Willingness and capability to work in various environments including, but not limited to, industrial, manufacturing, and power industry facilities.
• Effectively prioritize tasks according to contract obligations.
• Ability and readiness to take initiative and work independently without direct supervision.
• Flexibility to work rotating shifts and be on-call as per site requirements.
• Occasional overnight stays may be necessary based on hub needs.
• An Associate’s or Bachelor’s Degree in a Technical, Electrical, or Electronics field from an accredited institution is preferred.
• Technical Certification in Wind Energy or in the Electrical/Electronic field is desirable.
• Capability to work with a diverse range of personnel at all levels, both inside and outside of the Wind Farm is a plus.
• Prior experience with wind turbines is preferred.
• Experience in electrical, mechanical, and/or hydraulic systems is advantageous.
• Proficiency in using hydraulic power tools is desirable.
• Familiarity with heavy equipment required for facility maintenance, along with knowledge of crane and rigging requirements, is preferred.
