This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Provide clinical leadership and oversee medical director functions.
• Act as the direct supervisor for an expanding team of medical directors and associate medical directors.
• Establish performance expectations and create a framework for medical director accountability.
• Develop and mentor a pipeline of associate medical directors; take ownership of physician leadership development as a key organizational capability.
• Collaborate closely with the Medical Director for Clinical Quality to establish the clinical quality strategy, define priority measures, benchmarks, and improvement objectives.
• Promote a culture of safety and continuous improvement within the physician workforce.
• Ensure that service delivery, capacity, and utilization are in line with clinical standards.
• Set and enforce clinical policies related to scope of practice, clinical protocols, documentation standards, and telehealth-specific guidelines.
• Oversee the clinical readiness aspect of physician onboarding; ensure that new physicians receive the necessary orientation, training, and mentorship to start effectively.
• Analyze physician performance data (productivity, quality metrics, patient satisfaction, documentation compliance) at both cohort and individual levels.
• Create action plans to address any areas of underperformance.
• Collaborate with the CMO to develop a clinical strategy for new service lines.
• Manage the clinical operations plan by defining goals, resource needs, and success metrics.
• Formulate a leadership structure plan that accommodates rapid growth and identify key hires essential for advancing Solace’s vision.
• Collaborate with Legal, Compliance, and Medical Directors to build and maintain the clinical policy library.
• Serve as the clinical authority for escalations from various physicians and the advocate service.
• Prioritize the physician experience within the organization; monitor engagement metrics and implement interventions to enhance satisfaction, reduce burnout, and improve retention.
• Establish consistent communication channels between physician leadership and the wider physician workforce.
• Work in partnership with People/HR on physician workforce strategies, including retention and succession planning.
• Exemplify the clinical values and professional standards we aim to uphold.
• Must possess an active, unrestricted medical license.
• Board certification in internal medicine or family medicine is required.
• At least 5 years of direct patient care experience is necessary.
• Minimum of 5 years of progressive leadership experience, including direct management of other physicians or medical directors.
• Knowledge of multi-state medical licensing and credentialing standards (NCQA, JC, etc.) is essential.
• Experience in a virtual care environment is preferred.
• Proven experience in overseeing clinical quality, peer review, or patient safety programs at an organizational level.
• Familiarity with value-based care, payer contracting, and the relationship between credentialing and network adequacy requirements is essential.
• Strong leadership and communication skills; demonstrated ability to lead interdisciplinary teams and collaborate cross-functionally.
• Comfortable operating in a high-growth, technology-driven healthcare setting.
• Previous startup experience is advantageous; experience at a tech-forward clinical startup is a significant plus; ability to work independently is crucial.
