VP, Global Procurement

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Illinois.

📋 Description

• Develop a comprehensive sourcing support framework that collaborates effectively with all function leaders to enhance vendor expenditure.

• Implement uniform practices across Cengage Group for vendor selection, utilizing category-specific criteria for evaluating vendors.

• Formulate purchasing strategies across all expenditure categories within Cengage Group, prioritizing based on opportunity while balancing cost objectives with strategic business goals.

• Foster continuous improvement in vendor spending throughout the Group by setting functional procurement targets, conducting regular market reviews, and monitoring vendor spending performance.

• Collaborate with function leaders to identify opportunities for achieving and exceeding their procurement targets.

• Increase the proportion of spending with strategic vendors while eliminating redundant expenditures.

• Cultivate relationships with key Cengage Group vendors to promote deeper collaboration.

• Oversee all facets of vendor activities, including selection in conjunction with business partners, negotiations, and contracting.

• Provide updates on progress related to initiatives to IT, Operations, Finance, and other relevant stakeholders.

• Manage and update the Cengage Group procurement policy to ensure appropriate visibility and controls are in place.

⛳️ Requirements

• A Bachelor's degree in operations management, Engineering, Business, or a related technical discipline.

• A minimum of 10 years of robust progressive management experience in a Sourcing or Supply Chain Operations role/function.

• Experience in team leadership and in setting strategic direction for Sourcing.

• Familiarity with various vendor types including software, T&E, Professional Services, and Contractors.

• Ability to mentor and develop team members.

• Proficiency in guiding and interpreting complex spend analysis.

• Demonstrated negotiating skills coupled with strong Project Leadership experience.

• Knowledge and experience with SAP is preferred.

• Willingness to travel domestically and internationally, approximately 10% of the time.
