VP, Engineering – Exchange

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Australia.

📋 Description

• Primary Responsibility: Trading Infrastructure (The Gap) Hybrid CLOB & Matching Engine. Design and deploy the off-chain Sidecar Sequencer (Rust) aiming for <5ms P50 tick-to-trade latency, 100K OPS throughput, and <1ms latency variance.

• Risk Engine & Margin Systems. Develop the comprehensive risk framework: collateral weighting, cross-asset netting, initial margin validations, and dynamic maintenance thresholds.

• Liquidation Infrastructure. Create and execute the liquidation engine, auto-deleveraging (ADL) mechanism, and insurance fund structure.

• Perpetuals & Derivatives Engine. Implement perpetual futures with funding rate models, leverage management, and position lifecycle management.

• Oracle Integration & Market Data. Ensure manipulation-resistant price feeds for liquidation triggers, mark price calculations, and cross-market reference pricing.

• Secondary Responsibility: Platform & Blockchain Smart Contract & Blockchain Infrastructure. Oversee Cronos chain upgrades, USDC transition (IOU to native stablecoin), bridge and cross-chain infrastructure, as well as smart contract security and audit processes.

• Platform & Mobile Engineering. Develop a mobile-first consumer application targeting emerging markets.

⛳️ Requirements

• Extensive experience in trading infrastructure and risk management. You have developed matching engines, margin systems, liquidation engines, or real-time risk platforms.

• Fluency in derivatives market structure. Knowledge of perpetuals, options, funding rates, mark price calculations, and portfolio margin is essential.

• Practical blockchain/DeFi expertise or a proven capacity to learn quickly. Familiarity with EVM smart contracts (Solidity), protocol design, bridge security, and token standards is required.

• A strong professional network in risk engineering. You have collaborated with risk engineers, risk quants, and model risk managers throughout your career.

• 12+ years of engineering experience, with at least 5 years in senior technical leadership roles. Positions such as VP Engineering, CTO, Head of Engineering, Chief Architect, or similar are preferred.

• In-depth systems-level technical knowledge. You can review pull requests, debug smart contracts, make real-time architectural decisions, and engage in discussions about sequencer design at the implementation level. This role is not focused on high-level oversight.
