This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Define and implement the enterprise Azure cloud and platform strategy, ensuring alignment with business growth, clinical operations, and product delivery requirements.

• Establish a multi-year vision for cloud architecture, internal developer platforms, and DevOps capabilities that facilitate quicker and smoother product team operations.

• Manage Azure landing zones, subscription strategies, core network topology, and shared platform services across all environments.

• Set standards for infrastructure design, availability, resiliency, and scalability across Azure, M365, and associated platforms.

• Lead modernization efforts, including the adoption of cloud-native technologies, containerization, serverless architectures, and legacy platform refactoring.

• Oversee the comprehensive Azure environment, covering compute, storage, networking, identity (Entra ID), PaaS services, and platform tooling.

• Guarantee high availability, performance, and operational reliability of mission-critical systems that support clinical and business workflows.

• Collaborate with application, data, product, and analytics teams to design infrastructure that accommodates high-throughput data pipelines, AI/ML workloads, and advanced analytics applications.

• Promote the continuous evaluation and adoption of new Azure services that generate measurable business value.

• Administer and enhance the Microsoft 365 E5 tenant, which includes Exchange, SharePoint, Teams, OneDrive, Intune, and the complete E5 security and compliance suite.

• Maximize the utilization of E5 features such as Defender for Endpoint, Defender for Cloud Apps, Purview, and Entra ID Premium P2 in close collaboration with the Cybersecurity team.

• Develop governance, lifecycle, and licensing optimization practices to ensure cost management and full utilization of E5 entitlements.

• Modernize end-user collaboration, identity, and device management experiences while ensuring a strong compliance posture.

• Create and enhance an Internal Developer Platform (IDP) that offers paved paths, golden templates, and self-service options for product teams.

• Encourage the use of Infrastructure as Code (Terraform), GitOps, and policy-as-code for provisioning, configuration, and lifecycle management.

• Standardize CI/CD pipelines, automated testing, release engineering, and progressive delivery methods across the organization.

• Minimize manual operations through automation, self-service tools, and platform observability, measured by developer velocity, deployment frequency, lead time, and change failure rate.

• Treat cloud and developer platforms as internal products with defined roadmaps, OKRs, adoption metrics, and feedback loops from stakeholders.

• Work as an equal partner to Product and Engineering leadership within an agile, product-led operational framework.

• Integrate platform engineers within product squads to design scalable, resilient solutions from the outset.

• Impact product architecture decisions, ensuring that cloud-native, secure-by-design, and cost-efficient patterns are embraced early rather than retrofitted later.

• Apply product management techniques—discovery, prioritization, roadmaps, customer interviews—to guide platform investments.

• Manage enterprise Azure networking architecture, including VNet design, hub-and-spoke topologies, peering, routing, private endpoints, and Azure Firewall strategy.

• Collaborate with the Cybersecurity team on inspection, segmentation, and zero-trust networking while maintaining authority over network design, performance, and reliability boundaries.

• Support third-party integrations and secure data movement patterns necessary for the business.

• Engage closely with Security, Privacy, and Compliance teams to ensure cloud and M365 environments comply with HIPAA, HITRUST, and internal risk standards.

• Take charge of the infrastructure-level security posture, including network segmentation, identity foundations, encryption standards, secrets management, and secure-by-design architecture.

• Integrate shift-left security and DevSecOps practices into the platform and CI/CD pipelines.

• Ensure that infrastructure supports auditability, logging, and compliance reporting needs.

• Participate in enterprise risk assessments and lead remediation planning for infrastructure-related issues.

• Oversee cloud financial management (FinOps) practices, including cost visibility, chargeback, optimization, forecasting, and capacity planning.

• Foster a culture of cost-aware engineering among cloud and DevOps teams, with a clear focus on the unit economics of platform services.

• Lead the DevOps organization, embedding DevOps and Site Reliability principles throughout engineering and product teams.

• Manage vendor relationships with Microsoft and other strategic cloud, hosting, networking, and platform tooling partners.

• Balance cost efficiency with performance, resilience, and time-to-market considerations.

• Establish SLAs, SLOs, and error budgets for infrastructure and platform services.

• Lead around-the-clock incident response for infrastructure and platform-related issues; facilitate blameless post-incident reviews and systematic improvements.

• Define infrastructure lifecycle standards, change management protocols, and governance practices that scale with the organization.

• Develop mature observability practices encompassing metrics, logs, traces, and proactive alerting.

• Build, mentor, and lead high-performing Cloud Engineering, DevOps, and Platform teams—including cloud engineers, system administrators, system engineers, and Azure platform engineers—cultivating deep technical excellence and clear career paths.

• Set technical directions, architectural standards, and defined career paths for engineers across various disciplines.

• Promote a product-focused, learning-oriented, and inclusive culture rooted in engineering excellence.

• Encourage strong cross-functional collaboration with Product, Engineering, Data, Security, and IT Operations leadership.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering, or a related field; advanced degree and relevant Microsoft certifications are advantageous.

• At least ten (10) years of experience in infrastructure, cloud, or platform engineering, with a minimum of five (5) years in leadership positions.

• Advanced, hands-on experience in designing and operating large-scale Microsoft Azure environments at an enterprise level.

• Strong working knowledge of Microsoft 365, encompassing identity, security, compliance, and collaboration workloads.

• Proven history of building and leading DevOps, System Engineering, and/or Platform Engineering teams within a product/agile operational model.

• Demonstrated success in delivering Internal Developer Platforms, paved paths, and self-service capabilities that enhance developer velocity.

• Advanced expertise in Infrastructure as Code (Terraform), CI/CD, GitOps, containers (AKS), and cloud-native architectural patterns.

• Experience in scaling infrastructure in high-growth, regulated environments (HIPAA, HITRUST, SOC 2, or equivalent).

• Preferred experience in supporting healthcare, data-intensive, or analytics-heavy platforms.

• Strong FinOps discipline and experience in managing strategic cloud and software vendor relationships.
