šŸ“‹ Description

• Define and implement the enterprise Azure cloud and platform strategy to support business growth, clinical operations, and product delivery requirements.

• Establish a multi-year vision for cloud architecture, internal developer platforms, and DevOps capabilities that empower product teams to operate more efficiently.

• Take ownership of Azure landing zones, subscription strategies, core network architecture, and shared platform services across all environments.

• Develop standards for infrastructure design, availability, resilience, and scalability across Azure, M365, and related platforms.

• Advocate for modernization efforts, including cloud-native adoption, containerization, serverless technologies, and refactoring of legacy platforms.

• Manage the complete Azure environment, encompassing compute, storage, networking, identity (Entra ID), PaaS services, and platform tools.

• Ensure the high availability, performance, and operational reliability of critical systems that support clinical and business workflows.

• Collaborate with application, data, product, and analytics teams to architect infrastructure that facilitates high-throughput data pipelines, AI/ML workloads, and advanced analytics applications.

• Lead ongoing assessment and integration of new Azure services that deliver measurable business benefits.

• Oversee and enhance the Microsoft 365 E5 tenant, which includes Exchange, SharePoint, Teams, OneDrive, Intune, and the entire E5 security and compliance framework.

• Optimize the use of E5 capabilities such as Defender for Endpoint, Defender for Cloud Apps, Purview, and Entra ID Premium P2 in close collaboration with the Cybersecurity team.

• Implement governance, lifecycle, and licensing optimization practices to ensure cost efficiency and full utilization of E5 entitlements.

• Modernize end-user collaboration, identity, and device management experiences while preserving a robust compliance posture.

• Develop and enhance an Internal Developer Platform (IDP) that offers paved paths, golden templates, and self-service capabilities for product teams.

• Promote the adoption of Infrastructure as Code (Terraform), GitOps, and policy-as-code for provisioning, configuration, and lifecycle management.

• Standardize CI/CD pipelines, automated testing, release engineering, and progressive delivery methodologies across the organization.

• Minimize manual operations through automation, self-service tools, and platform observability—measured by developer velocity, deployment frequency, lead time, and change failure rate.

• Treat cloud and developer platforms as internal products with strategic roadmaps, OKRs, adoption metrics, and feedback mechanisms from stakeholders.

• Collaborate with Product and Engineering leadership within an agile, product-focused operational framework.

• Integrate platform engineers within product squads to design scalable, resilient solutions from the outset.

• Influence product architecture decisions to ensure that cloud-native, secure-by-design, and cost-aware approaches are adopted early in the development process.

• Utilize product management methodologies—such as discovery, prioritization, roadmaps, and customer interviews—to shape platform investment strategies.

• Manage enterprise Azure networking architecture, including VNet design, hub-and-spoke topologies, peering, routing, private endpoints, and Azure Firewall strategy.

• Collaborate with the Cybersecurity team on inspection, segmentation, and zero-trust networking while maintaining responsibility for network design, performance, and reliability.

• Support third-party integrations and secure data transfer patterns as required by the business.

• Work closely with the Security, Privacy, and Compliance teams to ensure that cloud and M365 environments comply with HIPAA, HITRUST, and internal risk standards.

• Oversee the infrastructure-level security posture, including network segmentation, identity foundations, encryption standards, secrets management, and secure-by-design architecture.

• Integrate shift-left security and DevSecOps practices into the platform and CI/CD pipelines.

• Ensure that infrastructure supports auditability, logging, and compliance reporting requirements.

• Participate in enterprise risk assessments and lead remediation planning for any infrastructure-related findings.

• Manage cloud financial management (FinOps) practices, focusing on cost visibility, chargeback, optimization, forecasting, and capacity planning.

• Foster a culture of cost-aware engineering across cloud and DevOps teams, establishing clear unit economics for platform services.

• Lead the DevOps organization, embedding DevOps and Site Reliability principles throughout engineering and product teams.

• Manage vendor relationships with Microsoft and other strategic partners in cloud, hosting, networking, and platform tooling.

• Balance cost efficiency with performance, resilience, and time-to-market objectives.

• Establish SLAs, SLOs, and error budgets for infrastructure and platform services.

• Lead 24/7 incident response for infrastructure and platform-related events; facilitate blameless post-incident reviews and continuous improvements.

• Define infrastructure lifecycle standards, change management procedures, and governance for environments that scale with the business.

• Develop mature observability practices encompassing metrics, logs, traces, and proactive alerting.

• Build, mentor, and lead high-performing Cloud Engineering, DevOps, and Platform teams—including cloud engineers, system administrators, system engineers, and Azure platform engineers, fostering deep technical expertise and clear career trajectories.

• Set technical direction, architectural standards, and clear career paths for engineers across various disciplines.

• Cultivate a product-oriented, learning-driven, and inclusive culture grounded in engineering excellence.

• Promote strong cross-functional collaboration with leadership in Product, Engineering, Data, Security, and IT Operations.


ā›³ļø Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, or a related field; an advanced degree and relevant Microsoft certifications are advantageous.

• A minimum of ten (10) years of experience in infrastructure, cloud, or platform engineering, with at least five (5) years in leadership positions.

• Extensive hands-on experience in designing and managing large-scale Microsoft Azure environments at an enterprise level.

• In-depth working knowledge of Microsoft 365, encompassing identity, security, compliance, and collaboration workloads.

• Proven history of building and leading DevOps, System Engineering, and/or Platform Engineering organizations within a product/agile operating framework.

• Demonstrated success in delivering Internal Developer Platforms, paved paths, and self-service capabilities that enhance developer velocity.

• Advanced proficiency in Infrastructure as Code (Terraform), CI/CD, GitOps, containers (AKS), and cloud-native architectural patterns.

• Experience in scaling infrastructure within high-growth, regulated environments (HIPAA, HITRUST, SOC 2, or equivalent).

• Strong preference for experience in supporting healthcare, data-intensive, or analytics-heavy platforms.

• Advanced FinOps expertise and experience managing strategic relationships with cloud and software vendors.

• Evidence of strong communication skills and the ability to partner effectively with Product, Engineering, Security, and executive leadership.
