This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Establish and uphold the definitive source of truth for all business metrics at Muck Rack, covering aspects from ARR and net retention to pipeline conversion and feature adoption.
• Oversee the analytics engineering team, a compact yet high-impact group responsible for maintaining our dbt project and developing the semantic layer that facilitates both human and AI-driven analytics, as well as determining how data is structured, curated, and presented.
• Create the AI analytics roadmap, designing the transition from current dashboard-centric reporting to a self-service model utilizing natural language, enabling stakeholders to directly query metrics.
• Lead and expand a team of embedded business analysts, each reporting to you while functionally integrated within their respective business teams.
• Gain a thorough understanding of each function’s workflows that your team supports. Outline the daily, weekly, and quarterly activities of a CSM. Analyze the distinct practices of top-performing representatives. Identify opportunities where data and tools can standardize excellence and develop these solutions.
• View each department as a “customer” of the analytics team: comprehend their use cases, anticipate their needs, and proactively develop the data products and dashboards that enhance their performance, rather than waiting for requests.
• Establish quality standards and methodologies across all analysts to guarantee uniformity in metric definitions, analytical rigor, and output quality, irrespective of their functional embedding.
• Create and manage the BA community of practice through weekly meetings, peer reviews, shared insights, and professional development initiatives.
• Develop and maintain a prioritization framework that balances the influx of ad hoc requests with investments in infrastructure, automation, and proactive insight generation.
• Act as the gatekeeper: safeguard the team’s capacity for high-impact work (semantic layer, AI tools, automated reporting) while ensuring that urgent business inquiries receive prompt responses.
• Make trade-offs transparent so stakeholders understand the team's ongoing projects, their significance, and the queue status.
• Assess and advance our BI tooling strategy with an emphasis on enabling quicker, more adaptable report creation while preventing uncontrolled proliferation of tools and dashboards.
• Develop the semantic layer as the basis for consistent metric definitions across all consumption layers, including dashboards, ad hoc analyses, and AI agents.
• Provide a natural language querying capability that enables executives and operators to swiftly obtain answers to metric-related questions without needing to submit formal requests.
• Over 8 years of progressive leadership experience in analytics, including managing both analytics engineers and business analysts within a B2B SaaS environment.
• Proven experience in building and scaling embedded or hub-and-spoke analytics models where analysts are integrated into business functions but report centrally.
• Extensive knowledge of the modern data stack, having worked with dbt, Snowflake (or an equivalent), and at least one major BI tool. You possess insights on semantic layers and their impact on the analytics operating model.
• Experience functioning as a “product manager” for an analytics department, which includes mapping stakeholder workflows, proactively developing data products, and making strategic prioritization decisions regarding team resource allocation.
• Demonstrated ability to balance immediate ad hoc requests with long-term infrastructure investments, including a framework for achieving this balance.
• Proven ability to collaborate with and influence C-level and VP-level stakeholders across Sales, Finance, Product, and Customer Success, demonstrating strong executive presence and business acumen.
• Familiarity with AI/LLM-enabled analytics. While not required to be an ML engineer, you should have a well-informed perspective on how AI transforms the analytics function and a vision for advancing towards it.
• Strong views on BI tools, data quality, and the practical implementation of “self-serve analytics” rather than just as a buzzword.
• Capable of translating business questions into data models and vice versa, comfortable in both board meetings and reviewing dbt pull requests.
• Alignment with Muck Rack’s core values: Customer Devotion, Resilience, Transparency, Ownership.
• Actively integrate AI tools into daily operations to enhance productivity and speed up delivery.
• Comprehensive medical, dental, vision, disability, and life insurance coverage for employees and their dependents.
• 100% premium coverage for individuals enrolled in high-deductible plans.
• 24/7 access to Virtual Care and an Employee Assistance Program.
• Employer-funded HSA contributions along with other pre-tax benefits.
• Quarterly wellness stipend and complimentary subscription to Headspace.
• More than 4 weeks of paid time off (PTO), in addition to paid sick and mental health days.
• 13 paid holidays with the option to convert some into personal days.
• Up to 16 weeks of fully paid parental leave.
• Clear pathways for internal mobility and promotions.
• Bi-annual performance evaluations, team workshops, and leadership development opportunities.
• Unlimited access to Coursera and O’Reilly resources.
• 2 additional PTO days each year for learning and development activities.
• Commitment to equity and the appreciation of diverse perspectives.
• Agile, founder-led organization emphasizing collaboration and innovation.
• Fully distributed team operating in a permanent remote environment.
