Virtual Care Counsellor

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Canada.

📋 Description

• Offer concise, client-focused crisis counseling and support through video, phone, and various digital platforms.

• Link clients to community resources, mental health services, and social support systems.

• Oversee each client’s case from start to finish.

• Coordinate essential support while collaborating with service providers and partners.

• Perform client-needs assessments and create tailored action plans with achievable goals.

• Provide crisis intervention, stabilization, safety planning, and connections to urgent resources.

• Deliver holistic counseling that honors NAN cultural values and practices.

• Keep precise and confidential client records and generate detailed reports.

• Participate in continuous in-person training and professional development.

• Occasionally travel to NAN remote communities and regional offices as required.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Social Work, Psychology, Counseling, or a related field.

• Demonstrated experience in mental health counseling with First Nations individuals, families, and communities.

• Strong verbal and written communication capabilities.

• Excellent organizational skills and problem-solving capabilities.

• Proficiency in virtual care platforms and technology.

• Familiarity with trauma-informed care, family systems theory, crisis therapy intervention, individual/family/group therapy, trauma responses, child abuse and family violence, addictions, harm reduction, de-escalation, suicide intervention, and cognitive behavioral therapy or other relevant methods.

• Deep respect for and understanding of NAN cultural practices, teachings, and spiritual beliefs.

• Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends.

• Proficiency in a NAN dialect (Cree, OjiCree, or Ojibway) is a plus.

• Skills in using OTN, Microsoft Office, Microsoft Forms, Microsoft Teams, and electronic medical record-keeping software.

• Willingness and ability to travel to NAN remote communities and regional offices.

• Successful completion of a criminal record check.
