Vice President – Product Design

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Illinois.

📋 Description

• Design leadership & transformation: Transition design from a reactive service approach to a proactive, product-influencing collaborator; establish operational frameworks across design, research, design systems, and design operations; drive prioritization, accountability, and rigorous delivery.

• Enterprise design systems: Develop and expand a cohesive, enterprise-wide design system that enhances consistency, minimizes fragmentation, and expedites delivery across products and teams.

• AI-forward design: Incorporate AI into design processes, prototyping, and experimentation; leverage experience in designing and launching AI-enabled products; help articulate how AI accelerates the development of user experiences.

• Product & engineering partnership: Collaborate with Product Management and Engineering leadership; enhance the role of design in roadmap planning, experience strategy, and solution creation; fortify the PM–Design–Engineering triad across product teams.

• Customer engagement & prototyping: Foster early customer participation through design partner groups and rapid experimentation; emphasize prototyping to mitigate risks associated with concepts and accelerate learning; enhance adoption and engagement through improved experience design.

• People leadership: Guide, mentor, and nurture a large design organization; balance hands-on leadership with organizational development and talent growth; exert influence across teams with conviction, collaboration, and cultural sensitivity.

⛳️ Requirements

• 10+ years of experience in leading product design within complex, enterprise settings.

• Demonstrated ability to collaborate with Product and Engineering leaders to establish a vision and deliver intuitive, scalable user experiences across sophisticated platforms.

• Former hands-on designer who has advanced into senior design leadership roles.

• Proven history of transforming design organizations and positioning design as a strategic asset.

• Experience functioning at an enterprise scale, with an understanding of enterprise tempo, constraints, and risks.

• Extensive experience in building and scaling design systems.

• Practical experience in integrating AI into design and product workflows; experience in designing and launching AI-enabled products is preferred.

• Strong, pragmatic leader with conviction and presence, complemented by collaboration and cultural awareness; adaptable, impact-oriented, and focused on execution.

• Open to candidates with diverse backgrounds in design and product management; industry-specific experience is beneficial but not mandatory.
