This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Lead the development and maintenance of internally developed operational systems: MRP, MES, WMS, and supporting microservices.
• Set and uphold engineering standards, including code review practices, CI/CD pipelines, testing coverage, documentation, and security measures.
• Supervise the Senior ERP & Operational Systems Architect responsible for Acumatica configuration and ledger integrity.
• Ensure clear system boundaries and integration agreements between the ERP (ledger) and internal operational tools (execution layer).
• Facilitate reconciliation, monitoring, and reliability across all system integrations, closely collaborating with Finance and Data teams.
• Oversee IT functions and support across all locations, including manufacturing facilities, technology hubs, and fulfillment centers in various U.S. states.
• Manage technology systems on the factory floor and ensure uptime for production-critical environments.
• Implement cybersecurity frameworks such as CIS.
• Establish IT governance, security standards, and vendor management practices.
• Integrate AI tools and practices into engineering workflows, encompassing code generation, automated testing, and documentation.
• Empower the team to responsibly enhance output through AI-assisted development.
• Identify and advocate for opportunities where AI and automation can effectively enhance operational and customer-facing systems, including agent deployment and process automation.
• Oversee the technical reliability and integration of the Shopify storefront, collaborating with Marketing and CX on platform needs and feature development.
• Ensure eCommerce platform reliability, performance, and uptime.
• Evaluate and implement integrations between Shopify and internal systems (OMS, fulfillment, inventory, etc.).
• Lead and develop the engineering and IT teams, with the authority to grow and adjust the team in relation to needs and budget.
• Establish engineering hiring standards, onboarding processes, and career development frameworks.
• Ensure the engineering and IT functions consistently establish and meet deliverable timelines.
• Represent the technology function in executive leadership meetings with clear, honest assessments of capacity, timelines, and trade-offs.
• Collaborate with Operations, Finance, Production, and Data to align technology priorities with the company's strategy.
• 10+ years of experience in software engineering, with a minimum of 5 years in an engineering leadership role.
• Proven experience in owning or developing operational technology within a manufacturing or production context, including MES, WMS, MRP, or similar systems.
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
• Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without employer sponsorship, now or in the future.
• Demonstrated history of delivering features and products effectively.
• Strong expertise in one or more of the following: Ruby on Rails, .Net, JavaScript, React, Go, Python.
• Experience managing back-end infrastructure, servers, and deployments for both on-premises and cloud environments (Docker, Terraform, or similar).
• Solid understanding of system architecture best practices, API design, and microservices patterns.
• Experience managing large codebases using version control, CI/CD, and contemporary software engineering methodologies.
• Experience in building and managing internal software, custom applications, and/or microservice architectures.
• Comfortable operating as a player/coach: setting the technical standard while also writing code and reviewing PRs alongside the team.
• Experience representing engineering in executive and cross-functional leadership contexts.
• Familiarity with ERP systems, particularly Acumatica.
• Experience in eCommerce operations, including knowledge of the Shopify ecosystem.
• Familiarity with AI/LLM tooling in engineering workflows (Claude Code, Cursor, Copilot, Codex, Devin, etc.).
