Vice President, Assistant Controller – Financial Accounting Operations

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in New Jersey.

📋 Description

• Take ownership and oversee the global consolidated close process on a monthly, quarterly, and annual basis.

• Supervise the Accounting Centers of Excellence focused on technical accounting areas.

• Ensure that consolidated financial results are timely, accurate, and complete, adhering to U.S. GAAP and BD accounting policies.

• Develop and implement global close calendars, submission protocols, review processes, and escalation procedures.

• Promote standardization, automation, and ongoing enhancement across global accounting functions.

• Create a clear engagement and operational framework among Corporate Controllership, regional controllers, GBS, and business finance teams.

• Cultivate a global controllership culture by enhancing knowledge sharing, collaboration, and consistency among regional teams.

• Direct audit planning, execution, issue resolution, and finalization activities for consolidated and statutory audits.

• Act as a primary advisor to the Chief Accounting Officer regarding accounting operations, audit issues, and financial reporting risks.

• Lead and mentor senior accounting professionals within both corporate and regional teams, influencing across a global matrixed organization.

⛳️ Requirements

• A Bachelor’s degree in Accounting is required; a Master’s degree is preferred.

• CPA certification is required.

• At least 15 years of relevant experience, including roles in public accounting and leadership positions within a Controllership organization.

• Extensive knowledge of U.S. GAAP, consolidation processes, statutory accounting, and global close operations.

• Experience in managing external audits for complex, multinational entities.

• Demonstrated capability to lead large, global teams and ensure consistency in decentralized settings.

• Experience overseeing shared services and/or BPO-delivered accounting operations is advantageous.

• Strong change leadership skills, including the ability to design operational models and influence without direct authority.

• Excellent executive presence, sound judgment, and strong communication abilities.
