This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Colombia.
• Evaluate completed tax returns for 1040, 1120, 1120-S, and 1065 — both federal and multi-state.
• Confirm the accuracy of K-1s, capital accounts, basis, at-risk calculations, §199A treatment, and reasonable compensation where relevant.
• Reconcile differences between book and tax adjustments, depreciation schedules, and carryforwards (NOL, capital loss, AMT, PALs).
• Validate apportionment, nexus, composite/PTE elections, and unique state-specific regulations.
• Ensure e-file readiness by reviewing forms, signatures, acknowledgments, and extensions.
• Identify discrepancies, errors, or ambiguous treatments in prepared tax returns.
• Draft clear, actionable review comments that preparers can address without needing further communication.
• Collaborate with the preparer until issues are resolved; verify corrections prior to final approval.
• Elevate technical inquiries to internal U.S.-based team members when necessary.
• Significant experience in reviewing and/or preparing U.S. tax returns for 1040, 1120, 1120-S, and 1065.
• Extensive knowledge of state tax filings across various jurisdictions.
• Exceptional attention to detail and professional judgment; comfortable assuming final responsibility for submitted returns.
• Strong communication abilities for both client-focused (return-specific) and internal interactions.
• Experience with Drake tax software is preferred.
• Proficient in written and spoken English; skilled in client-facing situations.
• Willing to work during U.S. business hours (night shift, based in the Philippines).
