US Tax Reviewer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in South Africa.

📋 Description

• Serve as the final checkpoint in the tax workflow, acting as the reviewer of record.

• Evaluate completed returns for 1040, 1120, 1120-S, and 1065 forms to ensure accuracy before submission.

• Identify calculation errors, overlooked elections, and documentation deficiencies; collaborate with preparers to address these issues.

• Engage directly with clients to answer questions regarding the return, providing clear and concise explanations.

• Utilize Drake and a proprietary internal platform, with training provided to facilitate your work.

• Keep audit-ready workpapers and documentation trails properly maintained.

⛳️ Requirements

• Significant experience in reviewing and/or preparing U.S. tax returns for 1040, 1120, 1120-S, and 1065.

• Comprehensive understanding of state tax filings across various jurisdictions.

• High level of accuracy and professional judgment; comfortable taking ultimate responsibility for submitted returns.

• Excellent communication skills for both client-facing inquiries (specific to returns) and internal communications.

• Experience with Drake tax software is preferred.

• Proficient in written and spoken English, with a strong client-facing presence.

• Willingness to work U.S. business hours (night shift, based in the Philippines).

• Preferred: CPA designation is strongly favored.

• Experience with R&D tax credits (Form 6765) is a plus.

• Familiarity with local tax filings in New York City.

• Previous experience in a review or supervisory tax role.
