This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Colombia.
• Generate returns that are ready for review on the first submission.
• Preparation of federal and state filings for 1040, 1120, 1120-S, and 1065.
• Ensure state filings correspond with all relevant federal returns, including applicable NYC local taxes.
• Manage schedules, K-1s, depreciation, basis tracking, carryforwards, and associated workpapers.
• Transition prior-year returns; align trial balances and source documents with the current-year workplan.
• Maintain clean and consistent documentation to allow the reviewer to trace every figure to its origin.
• Request any missing documents and clarify unclear information directly with clients.
• Compose concise and specific follow-ups (avoiding vague inquiries).
• Monitor outstanding items and proactively resolve them before they delay the file.
• Keep clients updated on the status of their returns.
• Collaborate with U.S.-based colleagues on document context and tax treatment decisions.
• Highlight judgment calls early instead of obscuring them in the workpapers.
• Deliver a clean file and a clear summary of decisions made to the Tax Reviewer.
• Organize folders, maintain consistent naming, and ensure complete documentation so the reviewer can quickly follow your work.
• Proven experience in preparing U.S. tax returns for 1040, 1120, 1120-S, and 1065.
• Knowledge of state tax filings across various jurisdictions.
• Exceptional attention to detail and ability to manage multiple client files concurrently.
• Strong written communication skills for both client-facing and internal correspondence.
• Experience with Drake tax software is preferred.
• Proficient in written and spoken English.
• Willingness to work U.S. business hours (night shift, PH-based).
• Preferred (nice to have): CPA designation.
• Experience in preparing R&D tax credits (Form 6765).
• Familiarity with NYC local tax filings.
