
Urgent Care Physician – Independent Contractor

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Arizona.
• Conduct age-appropriate patient histories and virtual examinations; assess, diagnose, propose treatment plans, and accurately document findings in a timely manner.
• Provide high-quality, safe care to patients.
• Record patients' medical details and review their history during each visit.
• Seek consultations or referrals from other healthcare professionals when necessary.
• Educate and counsel patients effectively.
• Order and interpret diagnostic tests as required.
• Assess, triage, and manage pediatric and adult patients for acute care, chronic disease treatment, and mental health issues.
• Stay informed about current medical research and trends.
• Plan schedules 30 days ahead, with finalization of schedules 7 days prior to the month's start.
• Achieve and maintain a 90% adherence to scheduled appointments.
• Complete a minimum of 8 scheduled hours each quarter to retain active status as an IH Direct Independent Contractor.
• Completion of a 3-year residency in Family Medicine, Internal Medicine, or Emergency Medicine.
• Over 3 years of experience post-residency in a dynamic Urgent Care or Primary Care outpatient environment.
• Current ABMS or AOA Board Certification in Family Medicine or dual-boarded in Internal Medicine and Pediatrics.
• Completion of the U.S. Medical Licensing Examination.
• Active and unrestricted medical license in at least one state.
• Experience and comfort in providing care across all age groups, from newborns to adults.
• Ability to operate effectively within an integrated medical practice.
• Broad clinical expertise.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Proven proficiency with technology.
• Flexibility in work hours.
• Must not currently be subject to exclusion or sanction by any state or federal healthcare program.
• Must maintain active status with Medicare.
• Availability for scheduling flexibility, including evenings and weekends.
• Recommended minimum of 25% of prescheduled time on weekends and after 5 p.m. local time.
• Expected adherence to a 90% schedule.
• Timely and regular attendance at the designated work location.
• Ability to remain seated for extended periods.
• Sufficient eye-hand coordination and manual dexterity to operate a keyboard, computer, and other office equipment.
• Occasional requirement to exert about 20 lbs. of force.
• Ability to interact professionally with leadership, staff, and members.
• Preferred qualifications: 5+ state licenses; licenses in GA, AL, TN, MO, SC, IN, OK, or MS; experience in telemedicine or virtual care; familiarity with Athena EMR; experience and interest in supervising Nurse Practitioners.
