Underwriting Support Specialist

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Acquire knowledge and assist in the functions of the Underwriting Department

• Oversee workflow and ensure prompt, precise service to both internal and external clients

• Record and monitor new quote requests

• Handle transactions related to commercial lines policies, including setups, quotes, new business issuance, policy amendments, renewals, cancellations, and other related activities

• Support underwriters by gathering information and managing email communications for underwriting decisions

• Sustain acceptable quality and productivity standards

• Build professional relationships with underwriting personnel

• Communicate with agents via phone and email

• Offer assistance to Risk Control and Premium Audit business units

• Apply established guidelines and authority levels to assess referrals to higher support tiers or underwriters

• Coordinate with underwriting support leadership and Team Leads regarding training advancements

• Uphold confidentiality and privacy when dealing with sensitive information

• Demonstrate and encourage Business Enablement Behaviors

⛳️ Requirements

• High school diploma or its equivalent

• Prior experience in customer service is preferred

• Experience in Commercial Lines insurance or equivalent rating experience is preferred

• Previous experience in a general office setting is preferred

• Employees are expected to engage in ongoing education throughout their careers

• An associate degree is preferred

• Capability to maintain confidentiality and privacy when handling sensitive information

• Ability to achieve quality and productivity standards set by management

• Willingness to learn commercial insurance underwriting terminology, support processes, and software platforms
