Underwriter – Unsupported Excess Casualty

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Connecticut.

📋 Description

• Managing an established portfolio of E&S Casualty business, achieving growth targets and ensuring profitability within the region.

• Enhancing visibility in the designated territory by conveying underwriting appetite and creating new opportunities through the development and maintenance of robust broker relationships.

• Operating independently with underwriting authority granted based on your level of experience.

• Fostering essential broker relationships in the regions to ensure a consistent flow of business aligned with our underwriting appetite.

• Delivering a level of service to clients that supports a positive perception of the company.

• Engaging in cross-marketing with other Paragon lines; meeting with brokers and insureds as necessary.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience is required.

• Preferred 3 - 5 years of experience in E&S Casualty Underwriting.

• Strong pre-existing marketing relationships within the assigned territory, with experience in a production underwriting role.

• In-depth underwriting knowledge across general classes, capable of managing complex accounts.

• A self-motivated individual who is organized and able to work independently as well as collaboratively when necessary.

• Proven ability to develop and sustain strong contacts with insureds and brokers.

• Excellent communication skills: strong verbal and written communication, collaboration, and presentation abilities, along with a willingness to mentor others.

• Estimated travel requirement is 25%.
