This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Virginia.
• Provide on-call assistance for urgent operational needs as required.
• Maintain a thorough understanding of sensor capabilities and their applications in border security operations.
• Aid in the inventory, deployment, and upkeep of unattended ground sensor systems.
• Perform inspections and preventive maintenance, which includes alignment, inspection, and sensor testing.
• Offer technical support during operations and provide training to team members.
• Diagnose and troubleshoot malfunctions, replace hardware, troubleshoot software issues, and verify resolutions.
• Adhere to safety protocols and ensure compliance with operational standards.
• Keep detailed records of deployments, maintenance activities, and system performance, as well as compile reports.
• Oversee the accountability of hardware, software, and spare parts.
• Maintain diagnostic and operational tools, support equipment, and testing systems.
• Collaborate with CBP offices, DHS officials, and USBP personnel.
• Contribute to the development of new UGS technologies and strategies.
• Active CBP BI or TOP SECRET clearance is mandatory.
• U.S. Citizenship is required.
• Associate’s degree in electronics, telecommunications, or a related field, or equivalent military or law enforcement experience.
• A minimum of 5 years of experience with unattended ground sensors or similar technologies is required.
• Technical proficiency in seismic, acoustic, infrared, magnetic, and microwave sensors.
• Knowledge of UGS components, including power supplies, communication modules, and sensor elements.
• Expertise in sensor collection, processing, and data transmission.
• Familiarity with wireless communication, encryption and security protocols, and AI related to image recognition.
• Understanding of sensor emplacement, site selection, and concealment techniques.
• Skills in signal processing, anomaly detection, and software tools for data visualization.
• Knowledge of the integration of UGS with other security systems.
• Awareness of geographical and environmental conditions in deployment areas.
• Ability to operate in rugged terrain and adverse weather conditions.
• Physical stamina for lifting, carrying, and transporting equipment over extended distances.
• Willingness to travel frequently and be deployed for prolonged periods.
