📋 Description

• Create user-friendly, accessible, and user-focused experiences for Grants.gov web applications, online forms, applicant workflows, grantor workflows, public website content, and associated digital services.

• Develop wireframes, prototypes, user flows, journey maps, form designs, interaction patterns, and design specifications that enhance usability, accessibility, and facilitate implementation by development teams.

• Design and refine web forms that are independent of platforms and browsers, minimize redundant data entry, enable validation and simple calculations, and adhere to Grants.gov form requirements.

• Ensure that designs, forms, content layouts, and interaction patterns meet Section 508 standards and best practices for accessibility, including keyboard navigation, screen reader compatibility, color contrast, focus order, labels, instructions, and error management.

• Perform usability assessments, accessibility evaluations, heuristic reviews, stakeholder interviews, and technical requirements discussions to pinpoint user challenges and areas for enhancement.

• Collaborate with developers and testers to confirm that executed designs align with usability, accessibility, browser compatibility, responsive design, and Section 508 standards.

• Assist in corrective and preventive maintenance for user experience issues related to websites and forms, including broken links, unclear content, layout inconsistencies, inaccessible interactions, and trends in helpdesk escalations.

• Work alongside content, communications, outreach, and helpdesk teams to enhance user documentation, online assistance, FAQs, troubleshooting guidance, release notes, status updates, and other public-facing content.

• Aid the Grants.gov chatbot and AI-driven customer support interactions by assessing conversation flows, feedback trends, content deficiencies, missed intents, and user experience enhancements.

• Produce design artifacts, accessibility findings, usability recommendations, wireframes, prototypes, and presentation materials that align with HHS EPLC, program documentation, and stakeholder communication requirements.

• Clearly present design suggestions, usability insights, accessibility risks, trade-offs, and implementation considerations to executive, federal, technical, and non-technical audiences.


⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor's degree. An additional four (4) years of experience is required in lieu of a degree.

• Over 5 years of experience in UI/UX design, interaction design, service design, product design, or human-centered design for web applications, enterprise systems, or digital services aimed at the public.

• Proven experience in designing web forms, digital workflows, data entry experiences, validation patterns, error messages, help text, and accessible form layouts.

• In-depth knowledge of Section 508 standards and accessibility practices for web applications and forms, including support for screen readers, keyboard accessibility, focus management, semantic structure, color contrast, labels, instructions, and prevention of errors.

• Experience in converting user needs, business requirements, technical constraints, and compliance standards into wireframes, prototypes, design specifications, and actionable recommendations.

• Background in conducting usability assessments, stakeholder interviews, accessibility evaluations, heuristic reviews, and user-centered analysis to enhance digital products and services.

• Capability to coordinate effectively with product owners, federal stakeholders, developers, testers, accessibility specialists, content teams, helpdesk partners, IV&V teams, and other contractors.

• Strong understanding of: human-centered design, usability, information architecture, interaction design, and content clarity; accessible web and form design patterns aligned with Section 508 standards; responsive design, browser compatibility, design systems, and reusable interface components; form validation, error management, instructional content, data entry efficiency, and user support requirements; design documentation, accessibility findings, usability recommendations, and stakeholder presentations.

• Proficient in using design and collaboration tools such as Figma, Sketch, Adobe Creative Cloud, Axure, Mural, Jira, Azure DevOps, Confluence, SharePoint, Microsoft Teams, or similar platforms.

• Exceptional communication, facilitation, visual storytelling, problem-solving, and stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to articulate design rationale and accessibility concerns to executive, federal, technical, and non-technical audiences.

• Must be able to OBTAIN and MAINTAIN a Federal or DoD "PUBLIC TRUST"; candidates need to secure approved adjudication of their PUBLIC TRUST prior to onboarding with Guidehouse. Preference will be given to candidates with an ACTIVE PUBLIC TRUST or SUITABILITY.
