UAS Associate Pilot

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Texas.

📋 Description

• Operate high-end drone systems for aerial assessments of transmission line structures and other uses.

• Act as Pilot in Command, bearing ultimate responsibility for ensuring safe flight operations in the field.

• Record environmental conditions and identify known hazards.

• Collaborate with the project manager or Valmont personnel regarding aircraft deconfliction notice submissions to customers and the FAA.

• Maintain communication with the camera operator and visual observer throughout flights.

• Address drone issues immediately as they arise.

• Observe surroundings and recognized hazards during flight operations.

• Inspect drones, props, controllers, monitors, and batteries prior to each flight.

• Clean and securely store equipment at the end of every day.

• Keep daily logs of crew flight and inspection activities.

• Implement safety protocols, complete Task Hazard Analysis forms, activate Emergency Action Plans, and secure flight areas.

• Conduct routine maintenance checks and identify equipment needing repair or replacement.

• Assist with filing, inventory management, equipment maintenance, cleaning, and administrative duties.

• Report to the Principal Pilot; there are no direct or indirect reports.


⛳️ Requirements

• Preferred bachelor’s or associate’s degree and/or 20 logged and verifiable sUAS flight hours.

• FAA Part 107 Certification is mandatory.

• Must pass a drug screening test.

• Willingness to travel up to 95% of the time.

• Possession of a valid driver’s license.

• Familiarity with various drone platforms and the ability to learn Valmont platforms.

• Must possess or be able to obtain OSHA-30 Certification and First Aid/CPR certification.

• Comfortable working outdoors in remote settings in both hot and cold conditions.

• Basic computer skills, including file transfer and organization.

• Familiarity with the Windows operating system.

• Strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with a larger team of pilots, camera operators, visual observers, and inspectors.

• Proficiency in mechanical and electrical troubleshooting and problem-solving.

• Ability to effectively multitask.

• Experience with energized utility lines and aerial structures, RTK drone technology, and 3D mapping/modeling are highly desirable qualifications.
