Truss Designer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in South Dakota.

📋 Description

• Creates designs for residential roof and floor systems and generates layouts.

• Engages in discussions regarding modifications and corrections with engineers, architects, and contractors prior to and during the construction phase.

• Presents, markets, and follows up on potential new projects.

• Prepares layouts for roof trusses and truss joist floors.

• Conducts inspections at job sites.

• Compiles a list of required materials.

• Identifies special annotations to include in contracts.

• Addresses architectural and design inconsistencies.

• Provides assistance in the shipping department.

• Reads and comprehends blueprints and detailed technical drawings.

• Utilizes computers or other technical tools to create layouts for customer orders.

• Ensures compliance with local building codes while developing material lists and design layouts.

⛳️ Requirements

• Minimum of 1 year of drafting experience in a construction or building materials-related field required.

• High School diploma or GED is mandatory.

• An Associate's Degree in civil, architectural, or design-related fields may be necessary.

• A Bachelor's Degree is preferred.

• Strong technical writing abilities are essential.

• Exceptional sales and communication skills are required.

• Proficiency in AUTOCAD and other design software is needed.

• Experience in reading and interpreting blueprints within an architectural context is required.

• Must be PC literate, with a good command of Microsoft Office.
