• Strategic Leadership: Align the goals of the practice with Woolpert’s VS3 (Vision, Strategy, Structure & Staffing) framework while establishing annual objectives that enhance industry leadership. Develop and implement the strategic plan for the practice, ensuring it integrates with corporate initiatives and fosters cross-sector collaboration. Analyze competitors' strengths, weaknesses, and market share to uncover growth opportunities and set strategic objectives.

• Market Growth: Broaden service offerings by leveraging advanced technologies and partnerships with acquired firms. Cultivate and sustain executive-level client relationships, identify strategic pursuits, engage in capture planning, and spearhead key business development initiatives that stimulate growth among state DOTs, toll authorities, transit agencies, and transportation consulting firms.

• Team Management: Responsible for practice revenue, backlog, profitability, utilization, client satisfaction, and talent development. Ensure the achievement of annual business plan targets and deliver sustainable growth.

• Client Management: Act as the Client Manager for strategic clients, overseeing daily interactions, project scope and estimate development, offering innovative solutions, invoicing, and evaluations.

• Project Management: When necessary, act as the overall project manager on Transportation Geospatial projects, particularly larger initiatives or those requiring unique skillsets or technical expertise. When not directly managing projects, the Practice Leader will utilize their project management skills to monitor the progress and health of projects within the Practice.

• Operational Excellence: Track KPIs (Key Performance Indicators), revenue objectives, backlog, and utilization metrics; implement corrective actions as necessary. Ensure compliance with Woolpert’s project management standards and transportation geospatial-specific workflows.

• Collaboration: Collaborate with teams across Transportation, Aviation, Energy, Water, and Federal markets to pinpoint opportunities for cross-selling and the delivery of integrated solutions.

• Career Development: Establish structured career pathways for project managers and technical personnel. Promote training compliance and mentorship initiatives to enhance leadership capacity within the practice.

• Governance & Authority: Maintain signing authority for Transportation Geospatial proposals and contracts in accordance with corporate guidelines, ensuring compliance with Woolpert’s risk management and quality assurance standards.


⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Land Surveying or a related discipline; PLS license preferred.

• A minimum of 15 years of experience in Land Surveying and project management.

• Comprehensive understanding of surveying and geospatial principles and practices, particularly in relation to base mapping/surveys for transportation design applications.

• Demonstrated capability to lead multidisciplinary teams and manage complex projects.

• Strong leadership qualities to foster an inspiring and trusting team environment and facilitate effective collaboration.

• Exceptional verbal and written communication skills for engaging with clients, team members, and corporate leadership. Proficient presentation skills for representing the practice in meetings and conferences.

• Solid business acumen with experience in sales forecasting and market strategy.
