Technical Trainer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Maryland, +1 more state.

📋 Description

• Create and implement training programs tailored for diverse audiences, collecting feedback to assess their effectiveness and consistently enhancing content in line with product developments, code revisions, and industry best practices.

• Provide live and virtual training on Potter Addressable Fire Alarm Systems, Potter ERCES BDA systems, and associated technologies, facilitating hands-on labs, product demonstrations, and practical exercises while evaluating participant understanding and engagement.

• Inform stakeholders about new product features through instructor-led training sessions, webinars, on-demand learning, and virtual resources, and assist in product launches by developing training materials, videos, demonstrations, and educational tools for customers.

• Create and update technical training materials such as videos, e-learning courses, student manuals, presentation slides, and technical reference documents, ensuring all content remains up-to-date with product changes and industry regulations.

• Work collaboratively with various departments, including Regional Sales Managers, Product Management, Technical Services, Engineering, Marketing, and Customer Support—to synchronize training content with product specifications and customer requirements.

• Contribute to team objectives by undertaking additional responsibilities as necessary to achieve project timelines and organizational goals.


⛳️ Requirements

• Over 3 years of experience with Fire Alarm Systems and Public Safety BDA Systems.

• More than 3 years of practical experience in installing, servicing, integrating, commissioning, or designing fire alarm and/or ERCES/BDA/RF systems.

• Familiarity with NFPA 72, IFC, IBC, NFPA 1225, and other relevant fire and life safety standards.

• NICET Fire Alarm Systems Level II certification or higher.

• NICET In-Building Public Safety Communications (IB-PSC) Level I certification or higher.

• Willingness to travel 40–60% across the United States.

• FCC General Radiotelephone Operator License (GROL) or the ability to acquire it within six months of employment.

• Experience in delivering hands-on technical training, including product demonstrations, lab activities, and troubleshooting workshops. (preferred)

• Experience in conducting RF surveys, signal grid analysis, acceptance testing, and ERCES system commissioning. (preferred)
