This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Conduct comprehensive and thorough audits of Forest Management and Chain of Custody.
• Execute audits in diverse environments, including forests, industrial sites, and urban areas, covering timber companies, government land managers, sawmills, pellet mills, furniture manufacturers, paper distributors, and printing companies.
• Produce high-quality audit reports that provide accurate, detailed, and consistent descriptions of findings and evidence.
• Evaluate organizations’ management practices against relevant certification standards.
• Interpret and apply certification program requirements while ensuring the integrity of the scheme.
• Review audit reports for oversight and quality assurance.
• Make certification decisions regarding the granting, maintaining, reducing, expanding, suspending, or terminating of certification based on conformity evidence.
• Assist in auditor training and performance assessments.
• Implement changes impacting certification and monitor client non-conformities.
• Ensure adherence to program procedures and documentation.
• Conduct witness and internal audits as necessary.
• Manage audit processes in collaboration with clients and stakeholders.
• Ensure clients submit the required data and information.
• Provide customer service throughout the audit process and address certification-related inquiries year-round.
• Maintain client files and records in designated folders and databases.
• Communicate policies, procedures, and requirements to clients, auditors, and affiliate staff.
• Assist in the development of external communications and training materials for auditors.
• Contribute to departmental quality programs and initiatives.
• Support the creation of internal procedures and guidelines.
• Aid in monitoring accreditation and addressing internal non-conformities.
• Bachelor's Degree in forestry, natural resources, ecology, or a related discipline.
• Over 5 years of professional experience in forestry, natural resource management, or a related area.
• Practical experience in auditing and/or quality assurance.
• Certification as a lead auditor in Forest Management and Chain of Custody for FSC, SFI, and other relevant programs such as PEFC and SBP.
• Proficiency in English with professional and technical verbal and written communication skills.
• Excellent organizational and prioritization abilities with a keen attention to detail.
• Strong customer service focus and a collaborative team spirit.
• Competency in using Outlook, Word, Excel, and database management tools.
• Initiative, sound judgment, and the capacity to work independently within a team setting.
• Eligibility to work in the US.
• Willingness to travel domestically and internationally for audits as required.
• Preferred: Professional forester license, such as licensed or registered forester.
• Preferred: Certification as a Society of American Foresters Certified Forester or equivalent from the Canadian Institute of Forestry.
